Master Thesis Multiplayer game for testing contact tracing approachesWhat to expect: Evaluating the effectiveness of contact tracing methods for infection risk estimation is difficult in real world settings. Therefore, in this thesis you will develop a multiplayer game as a virtual testbed for personalised infection risk management approaches. Each player controls a character. Characters have to meet and collaboate on a common task to earn points. The more characters interact, the more points they can achieve. However, some characters are infected with a infecteous and potential deadly disease such that earning points bears a risk (infected characters can earn less points and potentially die/game over). The players are equipped with personalized risk information based on the analysis of contact tracing data. Players can view the overall incidence of infections as well. All players together have an interest in keeping the overall incidence low because it allows them to earn points at lower risk. On the other hand players want win in achieving the highest score and therefore have an intention to meet others. This setting allows to conduct experiments on the effectiveness of different contact tracing approaches by evaluating the number of achieved scores by all players and the number of recorded infections. What we expect from you:
- pursuing a Master degree in computer science or similar
- experience with development frameworks for online games
- willingness to learn about new technologies
- interest in serious games
