Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity within the Manufacturing Engineering function for up to two Data Analysts.

The roles will support analysis and reporting of Production Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and feeding into business reviews, as well as providing insights that contribute to strategic decision making.

The roles will be based in Edinburgh but may be a mixture of home based and on-site.

What you’ll do as a Manufacturing Engineering Data Analyst

  • Work in a highly skilled team, providing key inputs and data to aid Operations decisions and failure review boards.
  • Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Produce reports and analysis of production Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), identify trends, patterns, and correlations. Translate findings into meaningful insights that contribute to VP-level decision making. Communication with key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to standardisation of reports. Improve and evolve existing processes.
  • Run existing Simul8 capacity models to various scenarios and output results to key stakeholders. Predict production output and assess the impact of different scenarios of Yield improvement, facility upgrades, resource changes etc. Experience in modelling software such as Simul8 would be beneficial.
  • Maintain manufacturing data i.e. routings.
  • Maintaining data integrity by ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Provide manufacturing decision-making information to aid
    • reviewing production schedules; reviewing production labour and material costs; estimating future requirements
    • prepare product and process reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Participate in manufacturing efficiency objectives by participating in capacity analysis, simulation planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout

What We Need From You

  • Minimum HND in relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of MRP systems.
  • Understanding in capacity modelling – Software such as Simul8 or witness.
  • Proficient using MS Office tools.
  • Experience in Statistical process control (SPC), Gage R&R and data analysis using software such as MiniTab is beneficial.
  • Experience in using SPC to fix or avoid problems – Software such as MiniTab
  • Experience using VBA in Excel, PowerQuery and PowerPivot to perform data analysis would be beneficial.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Competent in data analysis.
  • Analytical mindset and able to disseminate data and present to a variety of audiences. Attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills – both oral and written to articulate and explain technical understanding.
  • Ability to produce clear graphical representations and data visualisations.

Security Clearance

You must be eligible for full UK security clearance. Normally this is to the level of Security Check (typically known as “SC”) for our business, which includes having a minimum of 5 years permanent residency in the UK.
