Job Description

Position Overview:

Supervises and technically guide entry or intermediate level stress engineers to perform detailed stress analysis of structural components for Aircraft Cargo Products with expertise in Classical Analysis Methods and Finite Element Method. Effectively utilizes engineering fundamentals in supporting the Cargo components design development & validation as stress analyst. Assigns work for stress engineering team and establishes engineering and manufacturing schedules and business objectives to satisfy customer requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and provides technical guidance and direction to a moderately sized team of Stress engineers.
  • Responsible for applying intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas and assignments.
  • Assigns work to team and supports engineering and manufacturing schedules to satisfy customer requirements.
  • Lead/support the project reviews and design reviews with Experts/End Customer.
  • Responsible for stress methods and procedures to ensure conformance to engineering principles, customer requirements, and quality standards.
  • Analyze cargo components for the purpose of ensuring structural integrity using classical analysis methods of Strength of Materials.
  • Utilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for the purpose of structural analysis and the derivation of internal loads and stresses.
  • Review/prepare FBDs based on the structural load paths. Generation of applied loads, interface loads and internal loads distributions, utilizing proper understanding and recognition of structural load paths and structural response to load.
  • Review/prepare informal and formal documentation of Strength Check Notes and Stress Reports.
  • Support the design efforts and project/design engineers during drawing release.
  • Good to have: Automation of repetitive calculations pertinent to the performance of the stated job functions.
  • Provide support for structural test programs and establishing work package estimates.
  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement in products & processes and implement them. Good knowledge of ACE/CORE/Six Sigma tools and should be able to apply those in regular work
  • Responsible for schedule and cost for the project assigned. Responsible for engineering metrics like OTD, FPY, etc.
  • Responsible for competency mapping and development for the team; develop & implement technical training plans and modules.
  • Working with Cross functional team and communicate with business units in USA (effective written and verbal communication is required for the purpose of achieving successful job performance)
  • Willingness to work in extremely aggressive schedules, while still not neglecting the value of attention to details and subsequently delivering high quality work to the customers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering. Master’s degree in mechanical design is desired.
  • 9-12 years of relevant experience
  • Sound Mechanical Engineering Fundamentals
  • Proficient in the fundamentals of solid mechanics, machine design etc.
  • Good understanding of structural load paths and structural response to load.
  • Good analytical skills
  • Experience in any Analysis tools such as ANSYS, Hypermesh, ABAQUS etc
  • Basic knowledge on any CAD tool like NX 11 or above and PLM tool -Teamcenter
  • Experience in Project and Team Management.
  • Ability to read and understand technical engineering drawings, sketches with good understanding of GD&T methods
  • Good communication and Interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office – Word, Excel and Presentation
  • Knowledge on Aircraft structural part design, materials, and manufacturing processes
