Cargo Sales Manager - Sabah, Sarawak & Brunei

Head of Sales, Malaysia
Role Purpose
The Cargo Sales Manager - Sabah, Sarawak & Brunei, is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of cargo sales and operations within these territories. This includes the development and execution of strategies for increasing cargo sales, ensuring efficient cargo operations, maintaining customer satisfaction, and achieving operational targets. The role requires a strong understanding of the logistics and cargo industry in Malaysia, particularly within Sabah, Sarawak & Brunei and demands a combination of sales acumen and operational expertise.
Key Accountability
- Develop and execute comprehensive strategies to achieve cargo revenue targets and market share growth in Sabah, Sarawak & Brunei.
- Identify new business opportunities and cultivate relationships with potential freight forwarding agents, logistic partners and stakeholders to expand the company's presence.
- Manage and lead the local MASKargo members by providing guidance, support, and training to ensure operational excellence and alignment with company objectives.
- Collaborate closely with head office cross-functional teams, including Commercial (capacity management, charter, interline, pricing, network scheduling), Operations, Customer Service, Engineering, Finance, Legal and Procurement to streamline processes, resolve issues, and deliver seamless end-to-end cargo solutions.
- Manage external partnerships with local airports / authorities and service providers to ensure smooth operations.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory developments to identify risks and opportunities, and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Oversee the implementation and utilization of cargo management systems and technologies to improve revenue, productivity, efficiency, and data accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies, fostering a culture of safety, integrity, and continuous improvement.
- Prepare regular performance reports, forecasts, and budgets, providing insights and recommendations to senior management for informed decision-making.
Qualifications & Working Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Proven track record in sales growth and operational efficiency within the logistics or air cargo sector.
- Strong understanding of the air cargo markets, regulations, and customs procedures.
- Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders effectively, strong negotiation and relationship-building abilities to establish and maintain partnerships with airlines, suppliers, and other key stakeholders.
- Proficiency in English and Malay, both written and spoken. Knowledge of other languages is an advantage.
- Skilled in MS Words, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Minimum 10 years of extensive experience in air freight operations with minimum 3 years in managerial position, in-depth knowledge of the air freight industry, including trends, market conditions, regulations, customs procedures, documentation, and competition.
