Facilities Supervisor

Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Facilities and Ground Service Equipment, this individual is responsible for the supervision of all Porter teams and contractors associated with Porter’s facilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day guidance and direction for Porter and contracted facility maintenance technicians, facility cleaners and aircraft cleaners at YTZ and stations.
  • Assign Facility repair and preventative maintenance work orders to Porter staff and contractors.
  • Assist with the day to day direction of all snow removal activities.
  • Review overdue, due, and completed work orders for accuracy and quality of work. Follow up on outstanding items.
  • Obtain and submit quotes for contracted work.
  • Obtain and submit quotes for supplies.
  • Ensure adequate supplies are in stock, and inventory of stocked supplies is accurate.
  • Organize facility projects with impacted stakeholders, within and outside the company.
  • Oversee work by Porter staff and contractors to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, policies, regulations and standards.
  • Ensure records are kept in an organized and easily accessible fashion, and tasks are tracked and scheduled through CMMS programs.
  • Direct team on proper housekeeping(property) and aircraft cleanliness practices are observed by conducting regular audits and spot-checks.
  • Recommend and participate in long range planning with the Facilities leadership group.
  • Train cleaners (property and aircraft) and facility maintenance employees.
  • Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy.
  • Assist in the hiring of new Facility Mtce, Facility Cleaners, and Facility overnight groomers.
  • Disciplinary action when required.
  • Administrative duties such as building team schedules, processing shift trades, filling role vacancies, and payroll.
  • Resolving team member issues/conflicts.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in Facility Maintenance, or construction.
  • High school diploma with strong mechanical/electrical background.
  • Minimum of one year of supervisory experience required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical maintenance.
  • Skill and ability to perform grounds maintenance including building repairs.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools as well as any equipment required for grounds maintenance activities.
  • Ability to quickly reallocate resources, or personally respond to emergency/urgent requirements.
  • Knowledge and application of safety standards and precautions pertaining to the use of tools, supplies and equipment.
  • Knowledge of maintaining HVAC, Fire systems, pit pumps, boilers and standby generators.
  • Able to work different shifts as required.
  • Excellent physical condition.
  • Able to work in varied weather.
  • Dependable and reliable.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances.
  • Snow plowing/removal experience is an asset.
  • Demonstrated a positive attitude and good working habits
  • Able to build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with other departments.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS-Office Excel & Word, as well as CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Software)
