About the team you are joining
Led by the Global Head Air Traffic Management,
the ATM team is responsible for the development and roll-out of global
standards and policies related to Air Traffic Management (ATM) and
Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance (CNS) technologies. The team
covers a wide range of topics from ATM concepts to new ground systems to the
integration of unmanned vehicles into airspace. As a member of this team, you
will be at the heart of driving transformation in air traffic management with
innovative new technologies. You will work with a multitude of internal and
external stakeholders and drive industry initiatives across international
bodies. All members of the team have a direct interface with the International
Civil Aviation Organization and other international bodies.
What your day would be like
1. In coordination with the members of the ATM team and the IATA and ICAO regional teams, lead the development of;
a) positions, concepts and their implementation when it comes to ATM operations, dispatch and flight planning, e.g., implications and challenges associated with FF-ICE; pre-tactical planning associated with unmanned and remotely piloted aircraft; implementation of AIM and SWIM.
b) regional implementation roadmaps for operational improvements at regional and cross regional levels, taking into consideration the URATS, GANP, and ASBUs.
2. Work in close coordination with the regions and the data team to assess tradeoffs when it comes to flight planning and lead the development of positions to address issues such as efficiency vs. costs of ANS charges.
3. Develop and maintain a monitoring dashboard to capture the status of implementation of air navigation-related systems and concepts across different regions.
4. Work with flight planning system providers to address system challenges and future system requirements on behalf of member airlines.
5. Support the ATM team in developing positions related to ATM concepts and where required, communication, navigation and surveillance (CNS) technologies.
6. Together with the Head Airport & ANSP Charges, lead the IATA ATC Charges efforts on cost efficiency and reduction by providing technical expertise on CNS/ATM systems implementation (ANSP’s OPEX).
7. Support the development of guidance for Cost Benefits Analysis (CBAs), for management of incentives and for funding and financing to support ASBUs implementation.
8. Act as a project manager for the ATM team and lead the development of project business cases and plans.
9. Serve as a subject matter expert in ICAO and other industry groups on select topics related to flight planning and navigation.
10. Support IATA regional teams in the preparation for Planning and Implementation Regional Groups (PIRGs).
11. Contribute to the achievement of the department’s commercial targets.
We would love to hear from you if you have
- Bachelor’s Degree in a suitable
field or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 10 years of
experience in the aviation industry, with sound experience in leading
initiatives and project implementation.
- Strong understanding of Air
Traffic Management (ATM) operations and Communications, Navigation, and
Surveillance (CNS) technology.
- Strong understanding of ICAO
and existing mechanisms to drive global and regional plans.
- Excellent networking, team
building and communication skills.
- Fluency in English is
essential, whilst knowledge of other languages would be an asset.
- A heightened sense of cultural
awareness and a proponent of diversity and inclusion.
