Eaton’s Vehicle Division is currently seeking a Lead Technician - Facilities, to join our team at the Southfield, MI location.
The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain the site buildings in a safe and efficient manner to support the Eaton Research and Developmental groups by performing facility maintenance including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, safety system maintenance, and general building upkeep as well as provide oversight support of contractors.

Essential Functions:
- Facilities Maintenance activities to support the operation of the Southfield site. Activities to include but not limited to general maintenance, problem diagnostics, repair and preventative maintenance. All activity must be in accordance with Eaton environment and safety requirements, OSHA/MIOSHA and ISO14001 guidelines and requirements.
- Respond and address safety system and building automation notifications and emergencies. These may include afterhours, weekend, and holiday responses on occasion.
- Knowledgeable in system repairs/maintenance for the following HVAC, electrical, plumbing, general carpentry, fire and lighting.
- Knowledgeable in safety requirements such as but not limited to NFPA 70e, elevated work, hot work, Crane operation, confined space and Fork Truck operation.
- Oversite and collaboration of vendors with Facility Manger, co-workers, and EHS that are actively performing services in support of facility operations and maintenance.
- Strong communication skills that are professional and informational to communicate with facility customers (employees based in buildings), vendors, management, and co-workers.
- Actively take part in on site programs such as MESH, energy conservation, or recycling to name a few.
- Assist the EHS analyst with implementation of environmental health and safety initiatives and the completion of environmental health and safety maintenance activities.
- Comply with requirements of the Quality and Environmental Management Systems.
- Willingness to work in all aspects of facility maintenance and not just a specialized area or task.

Qualifications
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 3 years’ hands on experience in plant or Research/Development facilities maintenance.
- No relocation is offered for this position. Only candidates located within 50 miles of Southfield, MI will be considered for this position
- Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship, on an ongoing basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in facilities maintenance
- Associates degree in a related field (HVAC Technology, Facilities Maintenance, Machine Repair)
- Welding Experience
- Experience in CAD.

- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
- Basic knowledge in print reading
- Basic electrical understanding
- Basic Programmable Logic understanding
- Basic problem solving skills
- Ability to safely operate equipment related to maintaining a facility(Drills, saws, grinders, etc)
- Strong understanding and ability to implement and maintain safety and environmental requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on safety and providing customer satisfaction in all activities and assignments
- Proficient in computer programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point
- Demonstrated ability to direct projects and oversee contractors
