Crane Aerospace & Electronics is seeking a bi-lingual Director of Site Operations in Kaohsiung, Taiwan who is fluent in both English and Chinese languages. Director of Site Operations Position Summary: The Director of Operations is responsible for all site activities related to: (1) Planning and executing a production plan to provide high quality parts and on-time delivery consistent with external customer’s demands and timing; (2) Developing and executing strategies and plans to reduce the cost of operations by driving down material costs, making transactional and manufacturing processes more efficient, and eliminating waste; (3) Upgrading intellectual capital within areas of control; (4) Continually upgrading the facility to maintain a safe environment where all employees are treated with dignity and respect; (5) Playing a major role in developing and maintaining a positive relationship with the bargaining unit (where applicable); and (6) Making significant contributions to economic value added (EVA) for the site and Crane Aerospace & Electronics. Duties & Responsibilities: Coordinate the efforts of Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, and Materials departments to assure that adequate labor, material, and services are available to meet the sales forecast in a timely and efficient manner Work closely with Quality Assurance to achieve high quality levels for parts and products Establish targets and monitor all elements of manufacturing costs including labor, material, and performance to standards, set-up, process variance, lost time, scrap, and rework to assure they do not exceed projected levels Control operating actual vs. expense budgets for all Operations’ departments to achieve efficient facility operation Control inventories to achieve forecasted annual inventory turns and/or target levels Actively reduce the cost of operations by reducing waste in all processes Maintain overall cognizance of plans to reduce material costs, improve supplier performance, reduce purchased part inventories, and improve internal materials processes Promote productivity improvement/cost reduction through methods, process, and tooling improvements, and the procurement of necessary machinery and equipment Develop operations leadership team intellectual capital by providing challenging assignments, performing regular assessments of performance, and generating developments plans to assure all members are ready for promotional opportunities; Assure this approach is flowed down to all members of the Operations team Provide annual plans to upgrade the facility and surrounding grounds to provide a safe working environment as well as a pleasing appearance to our customers and visitors Act as member of the management committee in grievance handling, negotiations, arbitration, and administration of bargaining unit contract (where applicable) Provide sales forecast, by product line and market, personnel requirements, projected capital investment, inventory, productivity improvement projections, and associated schedules for the site’s operating plan Administer Affirmative Action Program within area of responsibility Comply with all health, safety, and environmental procedures and regulations Minimum Qualifications: Experience : Ten (10) or more years of experience in various phases of plant operations applicable to assembly and test operations, including five (5) or more years of supervisiory experience. Demonstrated track record of significant performance improvement through the successful development of a lean culture Knowledge : In-depth knowledge of the manufacturing industry ranging from production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources. Skills/Abilities : Fluent in both Chinese and English communications. Capable of communicating with plant personnel at all levels. Strong administrative aptitude. Outstanding leadership skills; ability to motivate, train, develop, and evaluate subordinates. Ability to delegate and hold others accountable. Ability to review machinery/processes in a plant environment Education : Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline, Supply Chain Management or related field. Preferred Qualifications: Aerospace or Electronics Manufacturing experience highly desired MBA is a plus Working Conditions: Standard office environment Work requires substantial visual concentration on detail Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes May require occasional travel About Crane: Crane Aerospace & Electronics supplies critical systems and components to the aerospace and defense markets.
