LEAD FLIGHT ASSET TECHNICIAN (FLIGHT HARDWARE LOGISTICS)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and provide daily support to the Vandenberg Falcon 9 Flight Hardware Logistics (FLH) team
- Responsible for planning and scheduling work, assigning work, assigning team technicians, and assess completed work
- Perform route surveys prior to scheduled flight hardware moves
- Evaluate in-transit risks and provide on-site solutions to alleviate risk including: routing, repairs, escorts, and drivers – includes physical escorts across launch sites
- Project future impacts and needs and energize employees to get tasks done on a deadline basis
- Access new candidates and provide recommendations during the hiring process
- Ensure employees have the training, tools and materials they need to carry out their duties
- Monitor employee time keeping records
- Responsible for daily productivity and effectiveness of team members
- Communicate on a daily basis – safety and immediate objectives
- Maintain quality and efficiency taking preventative measures as agreed with management
- Lead your team by setting an example, being a model and taking input from everyone to ensure our continuous improvement objectives are maintained
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment appertaining to the movement of flight hardware across Vandenberg site
- Ensure all FHL operations related equipment/services are performed on time, safely and in a professional manner
- Work directly with integration supervision, schedulers and engineers to plan FHL operations
- Ensure adherence to all area applicable policies such as Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and control of flight hardware
- Maintain licenses, operator permits, or certification as required such as Department of Defense (DOT)
- Maintain tech-level qualifications and certifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 2+ years of prior leadership experience including leading teams, projects or people
- 1+ years of experience with fleet operations and vehicle integration processes
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree
- Airframe & Powerplant or Aerospace Technology certification
- Five or more years of experience as a technician with integration systems
- Knowledge of Falcon 9 flight hardware configuration and application
- Heavy rigging experience
- Knowledge of certification appertaining to HAZMAT regulations
- Understanding of warp drive and work order structure
- Skill in operating and manipulating machinery and various hand and power tools requiring manual dexterity
- Ability to utilize precision measuring instruments
- Intermediate skill level using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)
- Ability to rapidly change roles and responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
- Ability to be diplomatic with a variety of individuals across the organizational infrastructure
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Vandenberg and Cape Canaveral
- Ability to work at elevated heights and/or tight spaces
- Physical effort including standing, lifting and carrying moderately heavy materials or equipment (15-to-35 lbs.)
- Regularly exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments – heat, cold, rain
- Work occasionally performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
- Must be available to work extended hours, nights and weekends when required by mission milestones
