The Job
Responsible for development / implementation of business plan to maximize cargo revenues/sales within the assigned region. Provide leadership on a strategic level for cargo sales and operations in the region. Develop existing customer base and introduce new customers to secure base loads by approaching top agents in the region to represent Qatar Airways Cargo. Create “Products” to suit the special needs of the customers with due focus on QR profitability and gain trust in the region as well as globally by having a constant interaction with main customers.
Accountabilities
- Study, prepare and propose new business plans for promoting Qatar Airways Cargo to contribute to revenue generation by understanding the market/customer needs and monitoring the competitors
- Define strategy to establish/increase base-loads on each flight and develop new customer base.
- Define to head office cargo management the optimal way to increase sales by recommendations for capacity, routes and timing.
- Develop & maintain positive business relationships with cargo industry stakeholders, governmental bodies, to cargo agents / corporate accounts and aviation regulatory authorities to maximise Qatar Airways exposure in the market and increase awareness of QR Cargo products.
- Annual budget planning and monitoring for proposed new service and pay back calculation on investments.
- Economically plan and execute business development strategy. Propose strategy to implement trucking-network, where necessary.
- Set up and pursue profitability on annual business targets. Achieve annual revenue target set for the region for respective Financial Year.
- Achieve annual sales target for projected revenue and monitoring the performance of the region through personal visits/monitoring the mails/reports.
- Active involvement in preparing and controlling the manpower budgets for the assigned region.
- Examine existing customer base and workout strategy to establish/increase base-loads on each flight and develop new customer base.
- Further plan, direct and control selling activities of the stations to ensure maximum market share whilst achieving new sources of revenue to surpass set revenue targets
- Responsible to research and monitor competitor pricing and promotional activity and prompt counteraction
- Responsible for development and implementation of marketing plan for the assigned area. Active involvement in organizing events, meeting with top customers and agents and regulatory bodies for better coordination and interaction
- Ensure QR has optimal presence in sales campaign and public events, gathering market intelligence and sales leads for distribution to relevant departments and stations
- Oversee GHA functions and supervise GHA staff/management as and when required to ensure smooth, safe and secure operations with strict adherence and compliance to all applicable standards and regulatory requirements
- Steer marketing team to ensure that promotional and advertising campaigns for the area are within set budgets.
- Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department
- Responsible for developing and implementing initiatives that help build Qatar Airways cargo brand increase industry esteem, and establish ownership of the market place
- Management of relationships with other airlines, trade bodies, government and civil aviation assigned
- Steer, lead and direct the cargo team for optimum performance in the assigned region
- Ensure staff development and training occurs in accordance with Head office instructions
- Establish a training plan for the region to ensure that mandatory training requirements are completed
- Establish the department or teams objectives and priorities to align with and support business objectives.
- Regularly evaluate the department or teams objectives, plans, procedures and practices, and makes appropriate changes if needed.
- Oversee and supervise employees. Direct daily activities, recruit, train, develop and discipline to ensure a high standard of service delivery.

- Contribute towards Qatar Airways Group Environmental Objectives and targets and the implementation and maintenance of the Environmental Management System.

Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent with minimum 8 years of related experience Or Trade, Tertiary or Vocational degree or Diploma or equivalent with minimum 10 years or related experience
- 5 years spent in a managerial role for sales and marketing with regional responsibility
- Good knowledge of “airline cargo products” and needs of the forwarding industry
- Budgetary and planning experience
- Extensive people management experience
- Knowledge in air cargo operations, Sales Development, Cargo Marketing or Management
