Delta’s Employee Communications team is looking for a strategic, collaborative communications professional to join the team to create and implement communications strategies that embody world-class employee communications, support Delta’s enviable culture and help the company exceed its business goals on our journey to better connect the world.
Reporting to the General Manager, Employees Communications (IFS), the Program Specialist – Employee Communications is a natural storyteller and will execute IFS’s strategic initiatives to inform, inspire and mobilize its people and enhance an employee-conscious environment.
Summary of responsibilities (not comprehensive of all tasks):
- Supports IFS Employee Communications in developing and executing innovative methods to enhance employee engagement and effectively communicate strategic messages.
- Engages with subject matter experts within IFS and other Delta divisions to research, understand and write/produce communication pieces about relevant topics.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once, adhering to different timelines and working with many cross-functional partners to ensure alignment and consistency within each project
- Ability to develop effective communications to tell a story and bring to life broad strategic messages
- Develops tactical plans that create a safety-conscious environment resulting in employee safety and well-being.
- Support a matrixed team structure that balances the priorities of the IFS division with Delta’s corporate objectives, aligning both strategy and tone so that all corporate Employee Communication teams function as one team communicating with one voice for both day-to-day and large corporate initiatives.
- Stay current on leading trends to deliver practical and insightful communication recommendations.
What You Need To Succeed (minimum Qualifications)
- Must have a minimum of five years of experience in communications, marketing, advertising, engagement, or related field.
- A natural storyteller—a highly articulate and persuasive writer and communicator with fluency and agility to quickly develop communications strategies. Must have the ability find the meaningful angle to a message and the ability to make connections to news and happenings throughout our business and industry, leveraging our brand style and tone to effectively shape messages and content for target audiences.
- Must be curious, highly motivated, people oriented, and reliable.
- Must be able to embrace diverse people, thinking and styles
- Must have a demonstrated experience managing and executing multiple priorities in a timely fashion.
- Should have a proven track record of developing trust and relationships to successfully implement projects in a cross-functional, matrixed organization.
- Working level of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook is essential.
- Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours to support irregular operations, crisis response and on-call rotations.
- Willing to travel to different employee locations.
- (If transferring internally) Must be performing satisfactorily in present position.
- Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for U.S.-based job, if not currently employed by Delta Air Lines, Inc.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (preferred Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, advertising or a related field preferred.
- Agency experience is a plus.
- Experience in airline or aviation field is a plus.
