Crane Aerospace & Electronics is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor to join our high performing Fabrication team in Burbank, CA. Job Summary: The Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor provides ongoing support for Value Stream leadership in the areas of productivity improvement and lead time reduction, takes on a lead Operations role with New Product Development activities and is responsible for ensuring that all customer and internal cost requirements are met or exceeded Essential Functions: MANAGE A TEAM OF MANUFACTURING ENGINEERS Fabrication manufacturing engineering supervisor provides supervision to machine shop, Hone, Lap & Grind manufacturing engineers, and CNC programmers. Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities Works closely with design / development engineering, manufacturing, quality, program management in coordinating all aspects of product and process design, development. Direct, review, and approve product design and changes Recruit employees, assign, direct, and evaluate their work, and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services Analyze technology, resource needs, and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects Confer with management, production, and marketing staff to discuss project specifications and procedures Any other task assigned by supervisor or management INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTION AS A MANUFACTURING ENGINEER Analyze manufacturing process flows continually for improvements of safety, quality, cost reduction, and throughput. Partner with Sustaining Engineering to improve manufacturability of products and collaborate with configuration management for the timely release of required documents Consult with vendors in evaluating solutions for meeting product specifications and quality standards and specifications. Identify and troubleshoot equipment and processes that are negatively impacting ability to achieve defined KPIs. Sit on the Material Review board, assess and disposition non-conformances, conduct failure analysis, root cause analysis, and provide corrective action. Review new designs and provide Design for Manufacturing input to Design Engineering. Develop process documentation for new assembly and test processes and existing products. Evaluate and justify purchase of new capital equipment. Qualify, document, and implement new process equipment. Create manufacturing plans for prototype, pilot production and rate production. Owns production readiness and documenting via the NPI and PRR (Production Readiness Review) checklists. This includes production tooling, facilities, manufacturing methods, processes, workflows. Responsible for supporting the manufacturing operation by providing tooling, processes, equipment, needed and is done through coordination with all stake holders. Minimum Qualifications: Experience : 7+ years of experience in an Engineering/Manufacturing / fabrication environment in areas: mechanical assembly, machining, grinding, lapping with fine tolerance parts experience Knowledge : Knowledge of Continuous Improvement, Lean, and/or Operational Excellence ; Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods Skills/Abilities : Strong emphasis on critical thinking, time management, judgment and decision-making; Excellent oral and written communication; Ability to motivate, develop and direct people as they work; Ability to identify the best people for the job; Proficiency with Microsoft/PC applications (e.g., MS Excel, MS Office, MS Access, PowerPoint); Education/Certification : Bachelor’s degree in a Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or Science area of study Preferred Qualifications: 2 years Supervisory experience 5+ years of experience in aerospace engineering AutoCAD capabilities strongly preferred for Mechanical manufacturing areas Project management capabilities Technical writing skills Lean-Six-Sigma certifications with working knowledge preferred Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications.
