Role Summary / Purpose:
The Avionics Business Leader has complete P&L authority for the $400M Avionics business. This includes Avionics business strategy, program execution and financial targets for the P&L. The Avionics Business Leader creates the vision, sets priorities and defines standards and metrics through which success is measured while ensuring the appropriate operational rigor is in place. Attracting, selecting, and developing talent at multiple levels of the organization is a critical component of this role.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Drive product lifecycle including new program pursuits (including executing commercial deals and contracts) and product development, manufacturing, aftermarket services
- Engage external stakeholders including customer, partners, and suppliers at all levels as needed. Proactively manage relationships at senior level leadership and program related initiatives.
- Develop long term strategic plans and investment priorities as well as driving operational aspects of current programs.
- Synthesize competitive analysis and ensure that Avionics’ capabilities across the product portfolio are competitive in our markets
- Responsible for financial performance of business, including sales, margin, cash, R&D expenditures, etc.
- Coordinating across the matrix with functional organizations to deliver all of the above (supply chain, engineering, sales, etc.)
- Set organizational goals and rigorous operating rhythms to meet business commitments
- Use lean as operating system of the organization to drive cost out, increase efficiency, drive standardization and ensure the business meets customer demands
- Leading, coaching, mentoring, development and evaluation of direct and extended staff
- Attracting and retaining key talent and creating an environment to foster employee engagement, diversity, professional development, and high levels of employee satisfaction
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, electronic, software engineering or computer science from an accredited university or college or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the Avionics industry
- Demonstrated leadership in a large scale, global & complex organization
- Ability to accurately assess key business metrics and situations from a general manager’s perspective
- Ability to travel 30%

- Strong command of lean tools and methodologies
- Prior experience in Avionics new product introductions
- Experience in high level complex commercial negotiations and business development

Location: Grand Rapids (MI), Clearwater (FL).
