Job Description: Airbus Urban Air Mobility (UAM) aims to lay the foundations for more efficient and sustainable city travel. Within the UAM Engineering, the team is responsible for the development of the overall Urban Air Mobility products. The team is turning the existing set of strategic UAM initiatives into a coherent demonstrator program that delivers an end-to-end UAM solution that is certified, competitive, and tailored to the future market environment. The central brick of the UAM effort is an eVTOL (electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft known as CityAirbus. You will be part of the « vehicle development» community. The main objective of this community is the development, design, certification and serial support of the CityAirbus NextGen vehicle, related systems and equipment as well as corresponding tools and processes. Furthermore the team works on research and innovation topics in order to ensure the long-term technical leadership of AIRBUS. Job description: As an airframe stress engineer you will be in charge of developing and supporting the eVTOL vehicle design, testing and certification. Define and contribute technically to the optimization of the global design of Airbus eVTOL products during the concept phases Performing trade of studies for different design solutions Ensure the proper static and fatigue strength of the parts using hand calculations, analytical methods and Finite-Element-Methodologies/Tools, taking into account weight and performance aspects Preparation and release of justification reports for static strength and fatigue Support product testing, certification and the evolution of requirements in that area Your qualification: You own minimum a B.Sc. in aerospace engineering or equivalent Excellent ability to develop structural concepts incorporating multidisciplinary requirements Knowledge of FEM method (Hyperworks, NASTRAN, Optistruct, RADIOSS) Basic experience with MATLAB/Python Knowledge in standard Handbook methodes (HSB, Niu, Bruhn etc.) Good knowledge about metallic and composite materials (i.e. understanding of production process and its effect on mechanical properties) Interested in an international and multicultural environment This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.
