About the role
Locally in New Zealand, our Babcock partners with the Royal New Zealand Navy to provide complete engineering, maintenance, repair and overhaul services to the entire Naval fleet. This role will provide Technical Leadership of Mechanical engineering activity across the design department to support delivery of Engineering Changes of the highest quality.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Delivery of engineering products, services and systems
- Planning and management of engineering design work
- Technical documentation approval where appropriate
- Identification, management and mitigation of engineering risks
- Leading continuous improvement across the design department
- Support and mentor less experience team members
About you
You will have a relevant degree in Engineering with over nine years’ experience in Engineering roles and have worked in a multidisciplinary Design Office, preferablywithin the Marine Domain. You will have experience in the use of design standards and quality systems, particularly Marine Classification and Statutory Regulations. You will have understanding and exposure to Engineering toolsets such as CAD and MRP systems and an excellent understanding of the assurance aspects of design, analysis, manufacturing and support techniques. Your originality, ingenuity and judgement will be highly valued in this role. Experience within a Defence Maritime environment would be advantageous.
