This Honeywell Aerospace Materials Engineering position will provide support for new and existing products including aerospace gas turbine engines used for propulsion and auxiliary power. Primary responsibilities include support for materials and processes involved in the design and manufacture of parts.
Candidates with hands-on experience in castings process (investment, sand casting, etc.), solidification and casting simulation software (Pro-Cast, MagmaSoft, etc.) will be preferred. requirements of the role will be the ability to interface directly with suppliers and provide support with production troubleshooting
Non-destructive tests such as FPI, X-ray and CT Scanning understanding and certifications of these methods is preferred.
Candidate will be responsible for defining manufacturing process approval requirements, product testing and design qualification for aerospace applications. Candidate will be responsible for reviewing drawing, specification and product substantiation requirements and ensuring that requirements are flowed down to suppliers effectively. Position defines substantiation test requirements and process requirements that need to be satisfied to pass first article inspection.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate strong impactful leadership of Metallurgy
- Use deep hands-on experience with aerospace metals leading engineers to solve all types of f metallurgical and process challenges with strong team and project leadership skills
- Lead and perform role model project leadership for complex technical development projects
- Recognize processing history in the metallurgical results and explain meaning of the results to upper leadership, peers, and to early career engineers
- Lead development of engineers to understand metallurgy and metallurgical solutions to progress process development
- Use a data science approach with materials science principles to develop and execute design of experiments using computational materials software (ICME)
- Use deep practical experience with castings suppliers to readily understand their challenges, articulate robust guidance for solutions, and effectively relay supplier experience to the Honeywell designers for improved manufacturability
- Use role model coaching and mentoring skills to significantly improve the agility and effectiveness of other engineers
- Develop strategic relationships with adjacent engineering and business organizations leading achievement of Honeywell objectives

Technical skills include a broad understanding of aerospace materials, processing and applications, understanding of mechanical and design requirements for aerospace components, effective communication and participation on teams with considerable focus on manufacturing and design. Trains and mentor suppliers in various aspects of materials and process engineering. The main customers of this position are the Honeywell engineering and manufacturing units and Supply Chain personnel (Sourcing) as well as the supply base.

YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering or Metallurgy.
- 10 years experience with Metallurgical applications to include: experience with casting processes (investment, sand, etc.), experience with alloys used in the aerospace industry (superalloys, titanium, aluminum, etc.)
WE VALUE
- Master or PhD in metallurgical/materials engineering
- 5 years' experience leading project teams in developing materials solutions and/or problem-solving complex materials metallurgical challenges
- Familiar with casting and non-destructive industry specifications, both general industry specifications (AMS) and OEM specifications.
- Ability to work in a cross-functional team of design engineers, quality engineers, supply chain, suppliers, etc.
- Significant experience with data science
- Strong competency in forging simulation computational software
- Evidence of strong refined leadership and mentoring experience in technical metallurgical materials project execution
- Ability to analyze and communicate complex results to key stakeholders to influence decision making
- Excellent communication at all levels with demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional, technical audience including Chief engineers and technology Fellows
- Individuals who are self-motivated who consistently take the initiative to get things done and influence others to achieve on-time commitments and on-plan execution
- Ability to consistently make timely decisions even in the face of complexity, balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness
- Ability to cope with high demand environment where priorities change frequently, and multiple projects are being worked at the same time
