FedEx Express Canada is seeking a Full-Time Payroll Administrator located in Mississauga, Ontario.
NOTE: this position is a Hybrid working model.
PAYROLL ADMINISTRATOR POSITION
Job Summary: To perform payroll functions to ensure timely and accurate processing of employee wages on a weekly/biweekly basis. To follow quality processes to calculate, validate and administer adjustments to employee pay in response to payroll queries and related issues.
Responsibilities:
- Processes hourly pay cycle employee payments incorporating automated inputs and manual adjustments. Audits, researches and corrects weekly reports to ensure accurate processing. Prepares manual cheques when required for employees; calculates accurate statutory deductions, processes garnishment payments. Adheres to standard departmental processes to meet stringent weekly deadlines.
- Responds to internal customer questions to satisfactory resolution of existing or potential payroll problems
- Reviews/audits manual adjustments (i.e. vacation overpayment, benefit premium payback) and ensures accurate and timely application to employee pay.
- Identifies, researches and resolves discrepancies on electronic fund transfer (EFT) payments and other payment issues; including Record of Employment (ROE) requests, employee status and pay rate changes
- Processes special payments to employees (i.e. bonuses, allowances) when required
- Maintains an accurate knowledge of best practice payroll procedures, company policies and government legislation
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- College Diploma (Accounting preferred)
- Accreditations/Certifications/Licenses (Preferred) – Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP)
- Minimum number of years required for entry to this job – two (2) years of experience in a high volume, computerized weekly hourly employee payroll environment
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Ceridian Dayforce System is an asset
- Ability to deal with contentious issues and show willingness and ability to resolve client problems
- Ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills
- Good analytical and problem solving skills
- Self-motivated, able to organize and prioritize large amounts of data.
