Key responsibilities:
In respect of Management system the Safety Manager is responsible to the Head of Safety, Security & Compliance for:
- Taking part in the development and maintenance of Wizz Air’s Safety Management System;
- Leading and supervising the Safety Captain/SCA, the FDM and FRM team members;
- Promoting and encouraging effective safety reporting;
- Assists in hazard identification, safety risk assessments and change management processes;
- Models and promotes a just culture across the Wizz organization that fosters safety practices through effective leadership;
- Acts as an information conduit to bring safety issues to the attention of management and to deliver safety information to the organization’s staff, contractors and stakeholders;
- Ensure the implementation, management and supervision of exceedances derived from the FDM programme and, where required, assess the event(s) with the flight crew member(s) concerned;
- Identification and assessment of issues from FDM programme and their transmission to the HOSSC, NP FO and NP CT;
- Represents the organization on government, international organization and industry committees (e.g. EASA, ICAO, IATA, CAA, AIB, etc.) upon delegation;
- Prepare material and manage Safety Action Group meetings and support of HOSSC in the preparation of Safety review board meetings;
- Analyses safety data for trends related to hazards, events and occurrences; maintains an up to date risk register that is effectively co-ordinated across operational departments;
- The immediate raising of significant safety issues to HOSSC;
- Facilitate hazard identification, risk analysis and management related to Safety reports, FDM and Fatigue management programs;
- Provide periodic reports to senior management and the safety forums on safety performance upon request of HOSSC;
- Monitor that appropriate and practicable safety action is taken by the responsible manager within a reasonable period of time that reflects the severity of the issue;
- Ensure initiation and follow-up of internal occurrence/accident investigations and ensure MOR reporting to authorities;
- Support HOSSC to oversight IATA coordinated activities (IFQP and DAQCP) and IDX and FDX programmes
- Attending and represent Wizz Air on Safety conferences if being assigned;
- Ensuring the processing of safety reports received including: investigation, risk classification, crew feedback, safety investigation and safety recommendation;
- Ensuring the preparation, editing and distributing safety bulletins and assisting in preparation of quarterly safety updates and communication assigned to crew members;
- Managing the recording of the distributed updates on the company server /Comply365 as relevant;
- Performing flight safety, compliance and alertness management training for crew members or management as relevant;
- Monitoring industry legislation changes, safety trends relating to operations and initiating risk mitigation actions as required;
Skills and Competences:
- Good knowledge of safety management principles (EASA, ICAO, IOSA);
- Significant experience in Safety Management Systems and risk management;
- Previous work experience in aviation safety, compliance, quality control;
- Experience in air carrier operations
- Experience in management of complex projects;
- PC user skills at advanced level (MS Office);
- Experience with SMS software and tools;
- Good presentation skills;
- Data analysis skills and good knowledge of statistics;
- Analytical skills, creativity;
- Ability to work autonomously;
Requirements:
- 5 years aviation working;
- 2 years Managerial experience;
- Minimum bachelor degree;
- Knowledge of safety management principles;
- Experience in Safety Management Systems and risk management;
- Previous work experience in ground operation, safety, compliance or quality control
- Training requirements:ICAO
- EASA MS
- Investigation techniques and human factor
- Internal SMS and CMS trainings
- Fatigue risk management and FDM
