Role Summary/Purpose:
GE Aerospace is seeking engineers interested in providing technical expertise to support the design, development, and verification of the embedded avionics software for a Flight Management System (FMS), specifically in the areas responsible for constructing a flight profile using physics and vehicle performance. In this role, you will utilize expertise to solve problems, develop and execute program objectives, and leverage a lean mindset to meet key business objectives for our commercial customers across a variety of our product lines. Essential Responsibilities
Be a technical expert in the “Performance and Predications” functional area of the Flight Management System.
Understanding and implementing software verification plans, strategies, and test procedures.
Authoring and updating software tests in various scripting languages such as Python or Visual Basic.
Participate in software structural coverage analysis and test to ensure every line of the FMS embedded software is verified to be correct.
100% coverage of FMS embedded software.
Execute the design, analysis and evaluation of assigned projects using sound scientific/engineering principles, practices, and processes.
Execute daily responsibilities as part of a diverse, multidisciplinary engineering team of inclusive professionals.
Identify, evaluate, and develop engineering tools and processes necessary to meet engineering and business goals.
Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments while maintaining a focus on safety and reliability.
Conduct Problem Report (PR) investigation and resolution.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM related field .
At least 4 years of relevant work experience designing and implementing real-time embedded software, and subsequent verification.
Desired Qualifications:
Previous avionics or aerospace engineering experience
Interest and desire to directly contribute to aircraft systems development
Aerospace Engineering degree
Experience developing and testing Flight Management Systems (FMS) embedded software in an airborne avionics development environment
Experience using VectorCAST software
Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Git, Tortoise SVN, or DOORS)
Experience piloting an air vehicle
Experience with analytical modeling and statistical methods, preferably within the context of Machine Learning
Experience in embedded Military and Commercial Avionics product development
Experience using Python, Ada, C and C++ languages
Experience with a Graphical Modeling Language with Simulation (e.g. Matlab, Simulink)
Openness to learn when faced with new or unfamiliar tasks
Knowledge of and experience with Agile software development practices
Knowledge of and experience with Lean operations and methodologies
