Airbus Helicopters is the world’s largest helicopter manufacturer and the company’s site at Oxford Airport is Britain’s civil helicopter hub. AHUK offers considerable experience in helicopter sales, bespoke completions, maintenance and spares support. Its in-house engineering capabilities include design, customisation, installation, flight-testing and certification, as well as technical support, maintenance, training and the supply of spares for civil and military applications. AHUK is the MoD’s chosen provider of helicopters and maintenance for its Defence Helicopter Flying school (referred to as MFTS) located in RAF Shawbury (Shropshire) and RAF Valley (Anglesey). Description/Overall purpose of the Job To provide mechanical design solutions on a wide range of Airbus helicopters for integration of mission equipment ranging from external loads to internal cabin configuration (mission control panels, VIP interior, storage systems) as well as ‘in- service’ support of existing aircraft. Key Duties: This is a technical role within an expanding design office at Airbus Helicopter UK Ltd Developing cost effective design solutions to technical and commercial requirements placed on the design office Undertaking mechanical design i.a.w. the design office procedures as directed by the Chief Mechanical Design Engineer Undertaking reporting or documentation tasks associated with a work package to comply with the certification, airworthiness and environmental protection requirements as listed in the Certification Plan for the modification, for which an appropriate level of understanding of applicable FAR/JAR/CS 27/29 requirements is necessary related to mechanical design Mechanical design Certification Verification Engineer (CVE) Providing design support to existing solutions in operation To assist system investigation and bid compilation To continue and develop own personal technical competence Keeping up to date with changes to applicable regulatory authority legislation Keeping up to date with new technological advances Education, Qualifications or special training: Degree qualified or equivalent experience with a lesser formal qualification Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent training. Both preferably aeronautically based. Knowledge and Skills: Be prepared to travel within the UK or abroad to support related business requirements (not extensive). ESSENTIAL Understanding of national and international regulatory authorities standards and codes of practice and procedures. Proficient in the use of CATIA V5 and AutoCAD Lt Computer literate in MS Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel Minimum of 15 years industry related experience in aircraft/rotorcraft Mechanical design at the implementation level A proven track record of technical knowledge Previous experience as a Mechanical CVE, or sufficient experience to achieve this role within a short period DESIRABLE Experience of mechanical design for rotorcraft is an advantage Experience of system integration for rotorcraft an advantage Additional requirements: Be prepared to travel within the UK or abroad to support related business requirements (not extensive).
