Job Description: Lead Systems Engineer will be integral to architecture and modernization of ISR Systems associated with RC-135 platforms and/or associated ground systems. This position is part of a talented team of engineers who collectively demonstrate excellent technical competence, reliability in delivering mission-critical infrastructure, and who continually ensure the highest levels of accessibility, optimization, and security. This position combines an understanding of both software engineering and systems engineering. A Systems Engineer in the RC-135 Group (RCG) team works with various departments to manage and develop ISR systems within L3Harris. This position works with existing and emergent infrastructure. This position requires the ability to communicate technically to coworkers in development positions as well as at a higher level to both management and customer representatives. The position requires the candidate to balance various aspects of a project such as cost, complexity, and schedule to address complex issues such as re-architecting software design for existing issues and designing for the future. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic and rapidly expanding environment developing innovative solutions. Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.
Essential Functions:
- Extensive Systems and/or Software engineering experience working with RC-135 Systems
- Ability to write capability and product requirement specifications
- Able to work with customer and system engineers to develop requirements, support Software Development, and conduct Capability Integration
- Ability to test, troubleshoot, and configure collection systems based on 202 data or other technical diagrams
- Thorough understanding of how software works in conjunction with hardware interdependencies.
- Ability to communicate effectively with software developers to explain requirements and use cases when needed.
Qualifications: (refer to Career Framework)
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of nine years of relevant experience.
- Hands-on experience with Collection Systems
- Ability to communicate within and outside the organization which includes customers or vendors
- Experience working successfully both independently and in a team environment with the ability to lead small test teams through an entire build cycle
- Experience with IBM DOORS Requirements Management Tool
- Experience with JIRA and the Agile process
- Knowledge of engineering life cycle
- Preferred Additional Skills:
- Previous experience as Project Engineer is a plus
- Background in Software Engineering preferred
- Experience with Aero/Avionics Engineering
