The Opportunity
At our Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft. We are seeking a new Associate Manufacturing Engineer (Industrial)Â to join our team, helping us develop and industrialise advanced technologies for the GKN Aerospace business. In this role, you will contribute to wing components, assemblies and systems manufactured using new technologies being qualified for flight. This Associate Manufacturing Engineer role is a role which will enable you to grow your skills and experiences, and - with guidance and support from our Manufacturing Engineering community - to become a Manufacturing Engineer,. You will be curious, committed to developing your own skills and not afraid to contribute ideas and ask questions.Â

How You'll Contribute
In this role, you will:
- Actively participate in industrial engineering of manufacturing development and integration for production through:
- The design of industrial layout solutions, from original concept through to production. Design these processes implementing lean tools and methods in accordance with the GKN standard lean tool suite.Â
- Obtain new product quotes and manufacturing system change proposals
- Exemplifying a safety-first mind-set and ensuring compliance with the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards.
- Create technical solutions to problems within GKN Aerospace.
- Provide technical input for manufacturing process development and integration for production. Â
- Utilize root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances.
- Maintain positive team relationships with internal customers and co-workers
- Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives.
What You'll Bring
To help us make a difference, youâll bring your passion and expertise/ talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:
EssentialÂ
- Technical experience in Manufacturing Engineering, with a professional qualification / background (university degree) in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical)
DesirableÂ
- Experience of project management
- Working knowledge of quality system models such as ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000Â
- Familiarity with AS9145 APQP process or equivalent
