United is changing the way we approach Talent Development at United. This position will have a dual role to ensure that we have the capabilities and talent to execute United Next as well as be a Talent Development partner to our HR Teams. They will partner with HRBP’s to ensure an understanding of the capabilities required for future success, design solutions to meet business needs, and collaborate with Learning and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to ensure that the teams have the required development needed. They will create, manage and deliver solutions that are innovative, accessible to a diverse and virtual workforce, leverages existing materials & resources, is scalable for growth, globally relevant, and aligned to business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Acts as a Talent Development thought partner for HRMDs and offers solutions across the spectrum of key development areas. Procures specialist TD expertise from global centers of expertise when needed. Partner with HR to drive consistency in the business unit talent agenda including talent review, talent conversations, goal planning and succession planning
The Key Development Areas Are As Follows
Global ownership of one or more Talent Development Areas – defining philosophy, setting a 3-year strategy, creating global HR objectives, market intelligence, change management, communications, and tools.
Talent Planning, Organizational Development, Training Needs Assessment, Talent Reviews and Succession, Organizational Design, Leadership Development, Career Mapping, Onboarding Effectiveness, Internal Talent Mobility, Change Management, Coaching, Early Careers, Team Effectiveness, Listening Strategy, Employee Experience, Talent Assessment, Retention Strategies, Goal Alignment, Performance Management, & Diversity and Inclusion Programs.
- Partner with HRBPs to identify and development of strategic capabilities for business unit HR teams. Create action, change management, executive buy in, org design, and upskilling plans to support the acceleration of identified strategic capabilities.
- Partner with peer TD leads in the identification of talent opportunities, potential interventions, and then produce global solutions. Represent business/brand perspective in the global conversations.
- Works with HRMDs to gain agreement, and alignment around Talent Management area of Expertise and transformational work. Designs marketing and change management plans with a top-down approach to program cascade focused on key actions required to transform organization aligned to 3-year roadmap. Partners with HRBPs and Business Leadership to implement program management methodologies and measures to ensure return on investment.
- Leadership and oversight on the creation and delivery of custom education, development and experiential interventions related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I).
- Owns and drives the TD road map; acts as a hands-on delivery resource leading the execution through HRBPs

What’s Needed To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)
- A Bachelor’s degree in learning/education development, organization development, human resources, organizational behavior, applied behavioral science or a similar subject area (or equivalent work experience)
- 5 to 7 years of dynamic experience crafting talent development strategies that have resulted in strong results
- Previous demonstrated ability to identify capability needs based on business strategy
- Experience successfully crafting talent strategies to close development and capability gaps
- Subject matter expertise in multiple key development areas
- Ability to influence collaborators at all levels in the organization
- Proven success driving initiatives to completion while ensuring adoption
- Leads with an “outside-in” approach by keeping a pulse on external market and HR trends
- Experience working as an HR Business Partner is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and deal with complex issues
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships develop and deliver fair and equitable solutions
- Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) with a strong employee advocacy orientation
- Professional demeanor with excellent and timely follow-up with business partners
- Must be self-motivated and have an enhance ability to prioritize/plan in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical skills with ability to use data to tell a story
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
- CISSP, CISA or CISM, PHR, SHRM, or related certification
- Experience working as an HR Business Partner
