The Opportunity
Our Filton site specialises in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft. Our new Manufacturing Engineer will join a small team of four which supports the business with paint and chemical processes as well as heat treatments. In this role you will get involved with rectification work across all value streams and will therefore help to resolve process related issues and reduce and eliminate non-conformance. You will use SAP to plan processes, will manage demand and run projects. We are a friendly team who operate flexible working hours. Come and help us make things fly!
How You'll Contribute
In this role, you will:
â˘Â   Be responsible for investigating, understanding and rectifying production and quality issues in relation to chemical processing, painting & Heat treatments
â˘Â   Determine the most effective and economical method of processing rectification on components whilst meeting drawing requirements and customer specifications in a timely manner to prevent processing delays
â˘Â   Update and maintain process routings and process information using SAP
â˘Â   Assist in the definition and introduction of new manufacturing facilities, processes, work instructions and equipment
â˘Â   Assist, advise and implement key projects and/or continuous improvement programmes and report progress as required
â˘Â   Be a key interface to assist REACH activities and compliance on site, coordinate with procurement team and suppliers, maintain records and audit substance usage on site
â˘Â   Address all tasks in line with defined customer procedures and GKN Manufacturing Engineering procedures as detailed in the Filton Quality Management SystemÂ
â˘Â   Be involved in customer / internal audits, assisting with the investigation and closing of any resulting non conformances
â˘Â   Liaise with external representatives including suppliers, consultants and controlling authorities within guidelines set by relevant departments and procedures

What You'll Bring
To help us make a difference, youâll bring your passion and expertise/ talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:
Essential:
â˘Â   Must have a HNC/ONC (or equivalent) level qualification and/or a recognised trade qualification in Engineering &/or chemical processing, painting, heat treatment, flaw detection
â˘Â   Manufacturing experience in a production environment
â˘Â   Good understanding of chemical processing and surface treatments
â˘Â   Ability to read and understand engineering manufacturing drawings and technical documentsÂ
â˘Â   Experience using IT packages such as MS Office
Desirable
â˘Â   Knowledge of, and ability to use and implement LEAN tools and techniques
â˘Â   Experience using SAP or similar business software

â˘Â   Ability to work under own initiative within a defined programme and targetsÂ
