Description

Astronics-PECO, located in picturesque Clackamas, Oregon near the foothills of Mt. Hood, designs, certifies, manufactures, and sells a wide range of products to commercial, government, and military markets throughout the world. Our highly engineered interior and structural aerospace products are supplied to the largest aircraft manufacturers and are installed in aircraft around the globe, and our military products are used in critical national defense applications. The Max-Viz enhanced visions systems (EVS) are designed and certified for use as an improvement to safety by a vast array of airplanes, helicopters, and unmanned-aerial-vehicles in the commercial, government, and military marketplace. PECO-Controls are well established temperature control devices designed for applications where high quality is a must, such as the hospitality industry, commercial cooking, and other critical applications.

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our team.

SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position is to develop and implement optimal, cost effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations and ensuring Company standards are being achieved.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
  • Coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products including establishing goals, training and evaluating results.
  • Accurately develops and maintains bills of materials and manufacturing plans.
  • Self directs continuous improvement activities based on observation and awareness of wasteful processes, procedures or systems.
  • Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
  • Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
  • Works in direct communication with customers and suppliers.
  • Travels to customers and suppliers to support projects.
  • Develops Manufacturing plans and Costed Bills of Material in support of quoting activities.
  • Works with Supply Chain, Planning and Operations to ensure that the appropriate lead-times and costs in Infor Syteline-9 ERP system, assuring proper stock levels.
  • Performs and documents time studies.
  • Mentors less experienced Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Supports Operations personnel through problem-solving and by removing production obstacles.
  • Attends Quality Manual Standards Training and applies Quality Standards accordingly.

This position may require knowledge of SOX / 404 internal audit controls and related documentation and this position may be responsible for the performance of various functions that may be an integral part of the Companys overall SOX / 404 internal control structure.

 
Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.
  • Five or more years of related experience.
  • Knowledgeable of Kaizen and Lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Aerospace knowledge is strongly desired.
  • Automation knowledge is strongly desired.
  • A high degree of mechanical aptitude.
  • Familiar with the data requirements for effective ERP/MRP system operations.
  • Strong general computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Ability to perform problem analysis and problem resolution.
  • Skilled at statistical analysis of manufacturing process data.
  • Strong understanding of Design of Experiments (DOE) and 6 sigma process control.
  • Strong project management skills; including the ability to guide and direct personnel.
  • Planning and ability to think ahead and plan over a 3 – 6month time span.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
