The Avionics Test Systems Design Engineer - Electrical will design, develop and implement automatic test equipment and test programs for design verification, and production testing of electronic assemblies. This will include the management of requirements, design of electronic circuits and development of test software to attain full test automation. This will include integration and verification of the test hardware and software with the avionics product hardware and software. The Avionics Test Engineer will maintain, support and develop all production test procedures and equipment on site and in other locations abroad.
Hybrid Opportunity with 2-3 days in the Grand Rapids, MI office.

Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
Specify and design new production test equipment for complex electronic aerospace products by understanding new products in Development.
Manage own time and assigned resources to meet schedule, cost, and quality objectives.
Create test design documentation including test specifications, drawings, procedures, software, verification procedures and reports.
Develop test hardware designs (signal conditioning, signal conversion, stimulus synthesis, filtering cable harness design, etc.).
Generate test software in National Instruments TestStand, C in LabWindows CVI and C/C++/C# in Microsofot Visual Studio.
Work closely with the R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams.
Provide technical support to manufacturing including hands-on debug of test systems.
Contribute to the company’s production engineering objectives regarding new product introduction, process improvement and lean manufacturing.
Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related engineering degree from an accredited university or college. Electrical or Computer Engineering preferred.
Minimum of 6 months professional experience in engineering (may include internships and co-ops).
Must have hands on experience designing equipment.
Desired Characteristics:

Ability to document, plan, and execute programs.
Ability to manage own time to meet task schedule, cost and quality objectives.
Application of problem solving and root cause corrective action tools and process.
Experience in the Aerospace/Avionics industry.
Experience with complex electronics design, test and/or manufacture.
