We are offering a paid internship program that will give college students the opportunity to work on exciting projects and interact with professional experts in their chosen field.
Weâre pleased to announce that this yearâs program will be 10 weeks in length with two separate start dates to accommodate a wide range of students. Program dates are as follows:
Session 1 â 5/31/23 â 8/4/23
Session 2 â 6/27/23 â 9/1/23
During the program, interns will learn about the airline industry and gain valuable transferable skills that will prepare them for their future. Interns will be partnered with a mentor in one of Hawaiian Airlinesâ departments.

We are seeking IT â Platform Engineering summer interns for teams listed below. Interns will be assigned to one team and complete comprehensive projects which develop intern knowledge and expertise of those areas.
- Cloud & Platform Engineering â Design, develop, and support the delivery of applications, application hosting platforms, and support tools across the enterprise. Scope includes datacenter infrastructure platforms; cloud environments, such as Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure; containerization platforms, and the tools necessary to automate deployment, monitoring, and management of these environments
- Systems Operations â Participate in project teams for site/station stand ups, decommissions, and changes related to the maintenance and operation of network infrastructure. Assist all IT teams in their mission to deliver network solutions to the business and ultimately the customers. All corporate and operations sites fall under our scope by providing and maintaining network connectivity as well as VHF radio communications
Minimum Qualifications
- Eligible to work in the United States. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university OR received undergraduate degree no earlier than December 2022.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 at time of application (transcripts will be required)
- Available to fully participate in the entire duration of the internship program in either Session 1 (Wednesday, May 31 â Friday, August 4) or Session 2 (Tuesday, June 27 â Friday, September 1)
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and background check
- Passionate about innovation, service, aviation and Hawaiian Airlines
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Analytical, strong problem-solving skills, organized and detail oriented
- Able to work well on teams and take initiative
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite â Word, Excel, PowerPoint (there are additional programs that proficiency will be required based on the department.)
- Able to handle confidential information and be professional

- Senior status in 2023 highly preferred

- Preferred major(s) of study: Engineering or Computer Science
- Basic understanding of computing and cloud technologies
- Firm understanding of the OSI model
- Foundational understanding of TCP/IP ports and protocols
- Familiar with Cisco command line for switching and routing
- Familiar with network monitoring and automation tools
- CCNA or Network+ certification
- Experience deploying to Cloud hosting environments, configuration networking, computing, storage, monitoring, logging, alerting, and response
