Eatonâs eMobility segment is currently seeking a Software Engineering Specialist, to join our team at either the Tualatin, OR or Southfield, MI location.

The Software Engineering Specialist will guide the design and development of our Power Distribution and Protection technologies. This role includes creating strategies, direction, and priorities to develop constructive solutions aligning to the business needs. There will be a large emphasis on innovation, software architecture, component design and tools.

Essential Functions:
- Create solutions for software architecture design, component design, development tools and process standards
- Coordinate multi-disciplined engineering projects from design to implementation
- Provide technical leadership to the software developers and other cross functional disciplines
- Support all phases of the software development lifecycle (Requirements, Design, Coding, Testing)
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for processes, software development and tool adoption
- On-site customer support, as needed
- Stay abreast of hybrid/electric and Power Distribution and Protection technologies

Qualifications
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- Bachelorâs degree in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Minimum of seven (7) yearsâ experience in embedded software development with C/C++
- Minimum of two (2) years of working knowledge of vehicle communication protocols such as CAN/CAN-FD, SPI and test tools (CANoe, CanKing, Logic Analyzer, etc.)
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience with full life cycle software development including requirements, design, coding, and testing.
- Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship, on an ongoing basis.
- Candidates must reside within 50 miles of either the Tualatin, OR or Southfield MI locations. Relocation services are not available.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Thorough understanding of software architecture design, algorithms, data structures and multithreading concepts
- Experience with a variety of CPU architectures and low-level drivers for microcontroller peripheral interfaces such as SPI, I2C, UART, ADC, I/O, etc
- Experience developing software using an RTOS
- Experience working with oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies
- Working experience with developing software in compliance with AUTOSAR, ASPICE and MISRA standards
- Working knowledge of OEM or Tier1 development process
- Experience with ISO26262 and safety product development
- Experience developing Power Distribution and Protection products is a plus
- Working experience with DOORS is a plus
