Hours: Standard 35 hours across 4.5 days (working between 7-7 at business discretion)
Length of Contract: Until 31/08/2023 – possibility for extension
Role Overview:
We have an incredible opportunity for you to be part of the Centre of Excellence for Landing Gear Testing based in Filton, UK.
We are looking for someone who is primarily motivated by working within an aircraft system test and analysis environment, who can work as an individual and within a collaborative team. You will report to the Head of Fuels & Landing Gear Test and you will prepare, conduct and analyse tests involving integrated Aircraft systems.
We are growing our team to face new programmes and new architectures deriving from new propulsion systems and Fuels. This is an exciting time for us and we are looking for team members for whom this is exciting too.
The team forms part of the transnational 'Propulsion, Hydrogen and Hydromechanical Systems' SubDomain in the Flight and Integration Test Centre. It is responsible for preparing, conducting, analysing and reporting at ground test level and specifically employing data analytics skills at flight test level. We are a product safety focused organisation with a history of delivering innovation to our company.
We test the integration of the ATA 32 system within the aircraft, so we need to interact and build relationships with colleagues across the world and across the aircraft Systems. As a team, we conduct development testing of new aircraft systems through agile test methods as well as supporting a vast fleet in the resolution of in-service issues.
Responsibilities:
Every day presents new challenges in a variety of areas from agreement on Test Requirements and procedures, Definition and validation of test rig configuration and instrumentation. Aligning on planning of Test Activity and co-ordinating activity with Test Engineers, conducting tests and producing Test Reports.
Our main aims are to:
● Collaborate with Design Office, Flight Test & Programme to determine and capture Test campaign requirements. This will involve understanding the System elements that respond to the requirements to be tested, helping design test steps to both confirm conformance to requirements and discover misbehaviours
● Collaborate with other areas of the test organisation to prepare Instrumentation, acquire results and write Test Results Analyses in response to Test Requests. This will involve agreeing measurement chains (Instrument type, installation and acquisition parameters), conducting tests, analysing system performance including interactions with other systems/physical events and presenting findings in a clear, concise manner backed up with demonstrations in plotted data
This role is highly connected with Test Means and is therefore at its heart an On-Site activity where the benefits of collaboration with other Test Engineers can be exploited to the full.
Skill Set:
Essential:
● Hydraulics Systems Testing and/or Mechanical Systems Testing and/or Computer based
Systems Testing
● Analysis of System performance, test reporting and investigations
● Experience of definition of Instrumentation systems
● Experience of supporting and/or doing Hydromechanical Systems Configuration
● Familiarity with Logical Systems (AND, NAND, OR, NOR etc, SCADE (Safety Critical Application
Development Environment))
● Experience of System Integrity (Robustness to failure, Reconfiguration, FMEA, Monitors,
Alerts)
● An appetite for developing relationships to collaborate
Desirable:
● Experience of systems testing techniques
● Awareness of safe ways of working in a Hydromechanical Testing Facility
● Experience in Analysing Computer based systems behaviours (Python, C++, Matlab, Labview,
Databases)
