- Role: CAD Process EngineerRate of Pay: Please apply for further detailsLocation: Stevenage - Following a familiarisation period on site this role will be a mix hybrid working averaging three days a week on-site – candidates must be able to work on-site when required – free parking is providedLength of Contract: 6 months - Probable extension after initial contract durationWorking Pattern: 37 hours per week. Monday - Friday, DaysTravel: Occasional travel to other UK sitesJob Summary:This is a design role with a twist.We need people who understand design, but don’t want to be designers. As a CAD Processes Engineer you will be helping designers get the most out of their tools, processes and procedures. You will be joining a team of 8, which is part of a larger Aerospace Mechanical Engineering department within Airbus Defence & Space working on Satellites and Military Aircraft.The mission will be to develop, maintain and support CAD Processes and standards based on Airbus DS methods using CAD / PDM / DMU Tools.Strong 3DX experience is essential for this role.Job Profile:
- To support the selection, test, evaluate and deploy new CAD/PDM Tool or versions
- To develop and deploy the CAD Methods and Processes in Airbus Defence and Space programs
- To test, evaluation and deploy the environment of DMU Integration and Definition of Digital Mock up
- To develop the methodology for the Generation, maintenance and data extraction of the Digital Mock Up in ADS
- To develop or support the development of the utilities to support the CAD processes
- To develop the process and utilities for the Quality control of the Digital Mock Up and Design CAD information.
- To prepare and the Training and Standard Manuals of the CAD/PDM Processes, Methods and Tools
- To realize the Training and give technical Support to the user in Design and Engineering
- To attend specific CAD forums/meetings representing Airbus Defence and Space (internal or external meetings)
Skills/Experience Required:Essential:- Minimum three years of work experience as a Designer in the Space or Aerospace sectors
- Expertise in CAD processes and methods
- General Expertise on 3DExperience.
- Expertise demonstrated in the handling and modelling of assemblies and the Modules of Catia V5/3DX.
- Expertise in Files Integration in the Digital Mock Up environment in Catia V5/3DX
- Experience in the Design and Engineering process: Mechanical and structural installations.
- Experience in the electrical process: wiring and harness definition and harness installations.
- Expertise in the preparation of utilities & programs in the Catia V5/3DX environment
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Proactive attitude and willingness for teamwork in a transnational surrounding with various interfaces to other disciplines
- CAD/PDM tools – 3DExperience (3DX) / CATIA v5
Education & Training:Essential:- Strong experience in a similar role – over a probable minimum of two years – is essential
