Role Summary
The Manager Regional Ground Support is responsible for executing the strategy of the Ground Service Equipment (GSE) operation for Horizon Air. As a people leader this role leads and establishes priorities for the team to ensure performance metrics & objectives are achieved while maintaining the utmost safety & compliance standards.
Key Duties
Execute on strategy for Horizon Air’s GSE program to support station operations, aircraft maintenance and inflight operations.
Make decisions related to fleet management and maintenance programs for Horizon Air.
Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on delegation for stretch assignments, growing and developing the team for capacity and growth, looking at performance across the team, and time management.
Shape culture of team through action, presence, and reinforcement of company objectives and values.
Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules for all ground support equipment.
Support GSE teams at multiple location to ensure the delivery of safe and reliable equipment.
Oversee ground support leads, trainers, and front-line technicians throughout the region.
Oversee training as it applies to regional personnel, including recurrent training as applicable.
Develop and communicate goals and expectations for each region.
Provide recognition and accountability for accomplishing goals and expectations.
Evaluate individual work performance and provide necessary feedback.
Prepare budgets and report on monthly regional and capital budget variances.
Ensure all company service standards, policies, procedures, and objectives are met, including OSHA and environmental requirements.
Continuously seek out ways to improve processes that improve safety, performance, and employee engagement.
Work closely with station leaders to develop an adequate plan for equipment needs based upon flight activity.
Work with Safety Leaders on various initiatives that enhance the delivery of safe and reliable equipment.
Facilitate the completion of special projects as required.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required:
5 years of experience overseeing a maintenance program.
2 years of leadership experience.
Bachelor’s degree, or an additional 2 years of relevant experience in lieu of this degree.
Budgeting and purchasing experience.
Strong interpersonal and communication (e.g., verbal, written, presentation) skills, with the ability to provide insights, recommendations and create collaborative relationships to solve complex challenges that drive outcomes in the best interest of the company.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand the root cause of issues and resolve them in a thorough manner.
Detail oriented and highly organized, with the ability to execute on multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment where flexibility is key.
Professional work ethic and demonstrated ability to work with all work groups while addressing people courageously, directly, and candidly.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Ability to travel approximately 25% (may include overnight trips).
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred:
Prior leadership experience for an Aviation Ground Support Equipment (GSE) program.
Fleet management experience
DOT Driver’s Program management (FMCSA and 49 CFR compliance).
Inventory control experience.
Project management experience.
Airport SIDA Badge Requirements
Important update for non-crew employees working at an airport or maintenance hangar: Employees will be required to obtain a SIDA badge provided by the airport authority and maintain good standing in order to keep their SIDA badge. Salary Range
$72,500 -- $110,900 / year
Salary Details
Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
