Job Description Summary
A quality engineering role working within Dowty's shop floor-based Product Quality Team, supporting both OE (Part 21) manufacturing and R&O (Part 145) propeller repair operations at Dowtyâs headquarters in Brockworth, Gloucester.
Role Summary / Purpose:
Responsible for helping to drive product, process, and quality improvements as part of the PQE function. Providing technical support to internal customers, team members and stakeholders. Delivering direct quality support to dedicated product lines with the objective of reducing customer disruptions, improving yield, and reducing losses. Role will support quality and continuous improvement activities, with a focus on our R&O operations, and this may also include opportunities to interface with customers where required.

Essential Responsibilities
- Ownership of root cause identification & corrective action (RCCA) for internal and external non-conformances (NCs)
- Ownership of quality requirements, supporting the Supply Chain and Engineering teams
- Supporting daily Quality and Operations reporting rhythms through business standard work meetings (âCCC & PCCâ)
- Performing process/product audits and/or First Article Inspections
- Identification of opportunities for improvement projects
- Providing âToolbox Talkâ style training on production, repair, or inspection processes & procedures
- Providing support of customer communication
- Delivering reports to shop leaders if required
Desired Characteristics
- Experience in aerospace Quality/Production/R&O within a manufacturing and/or maintenance organisation
- Responsible & accountable for meeting product quality needs, demonstrating effective structured problem-solving
- Good interpersonal and team skills, along with good verbal & written communication
- Analytical and organisational ability, comfortable working with digital tools & datasets
- Able to support initiatives of moderate scope and impact
- Understanding of customer needs
- Knowledge of composite layup & cure, machining, assembly, metallic repair, NDT, and metrology
- Familiarity with internal auditing and FAIRs
- Familiarity with quality control and inspection plans
Qualifications / Requirements
- Relevant degree education or equivalent technical education/experience
- Experience of utilising structured problem-solving methods within a regulated production/repair environment
- Knowledge of CAA/EASA Part 21G and Part 145 approvals
- Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO9001 requirements
- Green Belt certification preferred, however experience working with Lean principles may also be sufficient
