The following position is to join our Corporate or Research Center Team:
This internship position is for data science development in the Raytheon Enterprise Data Services Division. Our Data Science Solutions team works closely on interdisciplinary applied research and development (R&D) efforts across various Raytheon business units including Pratt & Whitney and Collins Aerospace. R&D ranges from concept development, trade studies, and rapid prototyping for customized engineering products and services. We develop solutions to solve customer needs as well as plan future capabilities and technology roadmaps. Our primary focus is to deliver creative leading-edge solutions in a quick reaction environment to support predictive maintenance and PHM evolving requirements.
Responsibilities
- Participate with product teams, users, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for data-driven solutions.
- Help support build of optimization models and learn to create Simple algorithms for quickly producing solutions according to those models.
- Generate hypotheses, design experiments, gather, review and transform data, and test the hypotheses using modern and statistically rigorous methodologies.
- Learn to develop techniques and applications in optimization, statistics, and machine learning fields and present those findings to internal teams.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Relevant coursework in one or more of Statistical Analysis, Data Science, Computer Science, and Data Analysis.
- Coursework in languages commonly used for data analysis such as Python. Must be able to code.
- Coursework or projects working with data sets and/or producing data visualizations for audiences.
- Good verbal and written communications skills along with the ability to present technical data.
- Relevant coursework or experience within the data science field.
- Familiarity with Python, Databricks, or Dataiku.
- Experience through coursework or prior internships with data science processes.
Desired Requirements:
• Knowledge of UNIX or Linux
• Familiarity with Agile lifecycle process including Scrum
Education & Experience
Preference will be given to rising seniors or candidates currently enrolled in a Graduate degree program or those who have completed their Bachelor's degree AND have been accepted into a graduate program in the field of Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Math, or other related field. A minimum 3.2 GPA is required.
