Are you looking for a role where you will be key in strategic supplier relationships? We have an exciting opportunity for a Procurement Category Specialist, working within the Leonardo Helicopters division.

As Procurement Category Specialist, you will work closely with key stakeholders to manage new bids, lead negotiations, manage contracts with suppliers and build supplier strategies.

This is a level 6 role on our Salary Career Progression framework.

What You’ll Do As a Procurement Category Specialist

  • Lead negotiations and manage contracts with suppliers, manage new bids, supplier sourcing and selection, build supplier strategies
  • Work in close contact with key stakeholders including Engineering and Programme Management departments to manage the contractual aspects of new developments/improvement of existing arrangements
  • Manage strategic sourcing of new Equipment against technical specification and programmes requirements
  • Support selection of new suppliers and lead negotiation of appropriate contractual frameworks
  • Support new customer programmes bidding activity
  • Define Commodity Strategies to support business needs - technological, financial and Programme
  • Achieve cost reduction targets
  • Negotiate Terms and Conditions/pricing contracts that support business requirements
  • Draft appropriate bespoke contractual frameworks to support complex acquisition, design, development and qualification programmes.
  • Define strategies to procure commodities in regional and global markets
  • Develop and consolidate business relations
  • Aid in keeping project cost-effective by controlling costs and enhancing benefits
  • Build strategies to encourage high levels of supplier performance
  • Collaborate with, and advise, sourcing & contracting managers on required issues
  • Act as ultimate point of escalation for significant supplier issues
  • Develop plans for better negotiations and cost reduction
  • Manage complex design, development and qualification programmes

What We Need From You

  • Degree / HNC in Business Management or Engineering (or equivalent) and/or MCIPS Corporate qualification or relevant experience within the Defence/Aerospace Sector or wider industry
  • Relevant procurement or commercial experience with proven examples of; Performance improvement against core objectives (e.g. cost reduction, schedule adherence, lead time reduction etc.)
  • Negotiation, agreement and management of contracts for Procurements (Long Term Agreement, Design and manufacturing agreement).
  • Management of complex contracts including management of design and development programmes
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A proven ability to influence internally and externally and solve problems using own initiative
  • Advanced team working skills and capable of co-ordinating multi-functional team activity.
  • Computer literate (competent with SAP and Microsoft Office suite)
  • Proven ability to work in international markets
  • Able & willing to travel alone or as part of a team within the UK and overseas
