Crane Aerospace & Electronics is seeking a Team Leader for our Valve Assembly & Test factory in Burbank, CA . Job Summary: The Team Leader will lead and coordinate a team of employees for operations in their assigned area. The Team Leader is responsible for reporting safety concerns and adhering to quality standards per work instructions, specifications, and best practices, as well as supporting Supervisor to meet customer demand schedules, while maintaining production duties in the cell or department he/she is assigned to. The Team Leader is responsible for monitoring, reporting, and escalating out of control or non-compliant conditions to Supervisor or Manager and helping communicate to sub tier employees. Essential Functions: • Report any safety opportunities in the cell to management and participate in safety walks. • Responsible for the 5S implementation in the Cell(s) • Perform safety audit of cell(s) • Serve as liaison to supervisor/manager in order to ensure the day-to-day problems and conflicts are resolved and that discrepancies are addressed. Help deescalate issues as they arise and notify supervisor / manager when needed • Review the daily allocation of resources in order to drive production schedule to meet established customer requirements and partner with supervisor/manager that proper resources are available • Ensure timely identification of quality issues through the use of the non-conforming materials process to ensure scrap and rework are properly processed • Communicate in a timely manner with team members on production needs and issues. • Serve as liaison to other groups, product lines and/or functional areas to ensure products are built, assembled, and/or tested within appropriate parameters • Maintain operating supplies for the responsible area(s) and coordinate with supervisor to procure additional supplies as needed • Review the Past Due and MRP requirements with Supervisor/Planner and support the factory to process the work orders • Review and ensure that all production work in the area of responsibility meets production standard requirements and adheres to all work instructions. Report all out of control situations to supervisor and partner with the supervisor / manager to develop action plan or come up with solution • Assist associates in solving manufacturing issues that arise • Perform essential duties of assigned, functional position/trade • Maintain & sustain cell level metrics boards and serve as the “area metric owner” within area of responsibility • Assist Supervisor with updating assigned Flash Meeting metrics • Other tasks assigned by supervisor or management Non-Essential Functions: • Assist Supervision team with cross-training activities by assisting, training or developing fellow coworkers in their technical roles • Ensure equipment complies with calibration and maintenance procedures and requirements • Collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality Engineering to define and modify manufacturing instructions • Participate in and support of Continuous Improvement activities (Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping) • Act as an extension of the Supervision team and assist with team communications, delegations, or initiatives • Lead by example with the best intentions for the organization, management, and the team Minimum Qualifications: • Experience: 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment • Knowledge: o General understanding of cellular manufacturing practices. o Basic understanding of manufacturing based continuous improvement skills (standard work, 5S, material replenishment, etc.) o Working knowledge of MS Office, including Excel spreadsheets (Ability to review, analyze and input data), Outlook (email, attachments, scheduling meetings and appointments) • Skills/Abilities: o Experience using an ERP system, preferably Oracle o Excellent organizational and process development/optimization skills. o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address or escalate issues as they come up. o Effective communications skills – both verbal and written. o Ability to support supervisor to align customer demand with manufacturing capacity to develop labor planning/allocations. o Ability to use data to determine root causes of issue to drive focused corrective action • Education/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent Employment Eligibility Requirement: This position requires access to controlled data or information and therefore only US persons will be considered.
