Overview of role:
We are seeking a Scrum Master reporting into our ServiceNow Team. This individual will exhibit a high standard of excellence, enjoy challenges, and is results-driven. The incumbent must be initiative-taking and demonstrate the ability to work in an agile environment having experience with ServiceNow. They will be responsible for adding value while contributing to the vision and strategy for the Platform.
This individual will drive team collaboration and engagement, be self-organized, and focus on delivering value through continuous improvement. Keeping tight controls around all workstreams by running parallel sprints while supporting the team in solving complex problems, mentoring, and coaching the team members keeping them focused on delivery and be the point person for our business partners.
Key deliverables include:
- Facilitate the sprint planning sessions, working with the development, and testing team members to agree on what can be achieved during each sprint
- Facilitate daily stand ups and help remove roadblocks raised by the team
- Coordinate sprint activities and facilitate retrospective sessions to identify opportunities for improvement
- Ensure the development team is aligned and working towards the goals and scope of each sprint
- Assist the Business Analysts, UX, Operations and other Product Teams with maintaining and prioritizing the products backlogs and new requests
- Coaching the development team in self-organization
- Facilitate internal team communication and encourage effective collaboration
- Helps teams implement changes effectively
- Ensure deliverables are up to quality standards at the end of each sprint
- Guide development teams to higher scrum maturity
- Prepare and report on performance and success of sprints
- Collaborate with other Scrum Masters on building techniques, ideas, and methods
- Develop, support, troubleshoot, monitor, recommend improvements to, and optimize solutions through teamwork and information gathering.
- Provide technical leadership, coach, and mentor the other team members
- Promote knowledge sharing and adoption of best practices
- Advocate and practice DevOps culture, tooling, delivery methods, and practices.
- Demonstrate commitment to continual service improvement
- Work with internal team members to ensure that delivery timelines are met
- Provide technical expertise to business / technical service challenges
- Builds productive relationships internally and externally
Experience & qualifications:
- Bachelor degree or diploma in computer technology, or related discipline
- Minimum 5 - 8 years’ experience working in Information Technology, or equivalent combination of training and experience
- 3-5 years of progressive experience with the ServiceNow platform including ITSM, ITAM, ITOM, SPM, Integrated Risk, HRSD, WSD, CSM and custom application development disciplines
- ServiceNow Certified Systems Administrator (CSA), Certified Application Developer (CAD), and Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) considered an asset
- Has developed knowledge/expertise in development lifecycle, understands Scrum methodology
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
- Ability to adapt to change constantly and continue to delivery results in a positive way
- High degree of emotional intelligence
- Problem-solving and conflict-resolution ability
- Initiative-taking and ability work independently and cross functionality
- Experience with software development in a large enterprise environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience managing multiple projects and streams of development with different timelines
- Proficient in a wide range of technical systems
- Requires excellent critical thinking skills and advanced interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience with implementations of full modules within the platform
- Expertise in identifying process optimization opportunities with guidance and contribute to the implementation of proposed solutions
- Proficient in working on complex integrations as part of a wider team, or project
- Expert in prioritizing and define approaches to understand the user stories
- Understands and able to articulate ServiceNow Development practices
- Competency with the CMDB is desired
- Experience using Azure DevOps
- Experience with any of the following JSON, XML, HTML, CSS, AJAX, HTTP, REST/SOAP, Jelly, and AngularJS, SSO-SAML, UI Pages, UI Macro’s, DOM considered an asset
- Strong understanding of ITIL concepts and policies for managing information technology infrastructure, development, and operations
- Strong understanding of integrations in an enterprise environment
- Possess an in-depth understanding of large-scale enterprise application technical environments
- A strong customer focus coupled with the ability to operate effectively and independently in an energetic, fast-paced business environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Possess an understanding of iterative, agile software development processes combined with IT project coordination experience would be an asset
- Demonstrated ability to operate under general direction with minimal supervision
- Strong teamwork, and people skills at professional level
- Excellent planning and time management skills and the ability to manage complexity, competing priorities and time pressures
