Qantas Engineering (QE), among other activities, provides engineering and technical services support to Qantas Airways and Express Freighters Australia (EFA) Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisations (CAMO). This support includes assistance with all CASR Part 21, Part 42, Part 145 and Part 147 quality, safety and compliance related matters. It also includes regulatory, compliance and assurance support of major projects, such as major aircraft modifications, special flight permits (SFP) and certificate of airworthiness (C of A) related issues, interpretation of the applicability of relevant design, continuing airworthiness and maintenance standards, aircraft entry into service or aircraft return to service after prolonged storage activity. In your new role as Qantas Engineering (QE) Regulatory Specialist, you will provide specialist regulatory support to QE operations and maintaining relationships with various regulators including CASA and multiple NAAs. You will also be involved extensively in support of major CAMO projects, including providing advice on CASR Part 21, Part 42 and Part 145 quality, safety and compliance related matters. You will draw from your previous similar experience in management of aircraft continuing airworthiness, design or aviation compliance and assurance matters in relation to major modification projects, aircraft fleet entry into service or aircraft return to service after prolonged storage activity. The role will also support with development of submissions to regulators to obtain and maintain regulatory approvals for all aspects of QE operations including Design, Continuing Airworthiness Management, Aircraft Maintenance, Manufacturing and Technical Training. In addition, you will be actively involved in business development initiatives and facilitate external regulator surveillance activity conducted by CASA and NAAs, ensuring any identified issues are understood and adequately addressed by QE. The successful candidate will have: Extensive knowledge, understanding and application of CASR Part 21 for Design, SFP, C of A, Production Organisation Approval, Part 42 Continuing Airworthiness and similar external NAA regulatory requirements i.e. EASA & FAA. Tertiary Education, such as professional engineering qualifications in a relevant aviation discipline or Trade Certificate or higher with relevant aviation experience with previous Regulator Delegations, such as CAMO related delegations, C of A or SFP delegations, Subpart 21J or 21M design delegations or other relevant experience - Graduates will be considered Experience working with regulators and understanding of industry forums for development of rule making Practical working knowledge of domestic and international Civil Aviation regulations Practical working knowledge and experience of major modifications project work or understanding of design standards substantiations and compliance requirements or service literature management or supplier quality assessments, would be desirable Understanding of other regulations governing industrial workforce management Auditor Training – completed, working towards or interested in completing Builds constructive, respectful and effective working relationships and influences stakeholders in formal and informal networks Communicates effectively, both written and verbal, with all levels of management. Openly monitors performance against clear objectives and performance targets Excellent organisational skills, with ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently, under pressure and to meet deadlines Ability to manage complex projects and develop / negotiate solutions to difficult problems Robust computer literacy skills and proficiency in MS Office programs Ability to travel to other ports as required Why Qantas?
