The Roster Maintenance Team Leader is an exciting role within the TUI Airline Northern Region Crew Planning team. This role is responsible for ensuring all Pilot and Cabin Crew Rosters are maintained post publication through to the operational window, adhering to compliance requirements of industry regulations, legislation & industrial agreements.
This role will provide leadership to the Roster Maintenance and Crew Travel teams looking after our Northern Region Airlines. Reporting to the Northern Region Crew Rostering Manager, this role is the critical link between the planning and operational teams.
Due to the operational nature of this role, it is based onsite at Wigmore House. This opportunity is offered on a Fixed Term Contract basis to end October 2023.

ABOUT THE JOB
- Ensure crew focus is maintained consistently within the roster maintenance window, responsibility for decision making in relation to maintaining the published rosters, appropriately challenging peers making operational decisions to ensure that the Flight Crew impact is understood
- Advise on crew availability when requests for additional flying are being considered outside the 72-hr window by the Operational Planning team, Aviation Planning or other airline managers and colleagues
- Provide briefs and updates to Crew Planning leadership, Pilot and Cabin Crew Management, and airline safety & compliance colleagues of all irregularities involving air crew rosters
- Track the usage of planned and rostered reserve duties proposing changes and improvements where applicable
- Review the impact of aircraft programme changes and flight changes on crew availability, taking appropriate action to minimise disruption to crew members and protect robust rostering practices
- Work closely with the Rostering Team leaders and team members to promote an open, honest team culture to enhance employee engagement and deliver the highest levels of operational integrity and customer service
- Responsibility for training new team members in both legal and regulatory agreements
- Coach and mentor, the Roster Maintenance and Crew Travel teams to consistently deliver to and above expectation
- Support recruitment, where necessary, of Roster Maintenance and Crew Travel Executives
- Oversight and control of cost and spend within the Roster Maintenance window. Continuously maintaining focus on financial objectives for both Roster Maintenance and Crew Travel teams – ensuring efficient rostering practices avoiding unnecessary costs
- Ensure the Roster Maintenance and Crew Travel teams align to provide professional service to all TUI Aviation airlines crew in accordance with regulatory and industrial agreements
- Maintain process and records to support ongoing learning and evidence ongoing training within the Roster Maintenance and Crew Travel teams ensuring recurrent training is completed in a timely manner
- Develop strong working relationships with local airline Crew Planning and Crew Management regarding communication and opportunities for continuous improvement
- Responsible for liaison and cooperation with crew collective representatives as appropriate

You’ll ensure that you will remain up-to-date and current on all procedures and policies affecting your day-to-day role to allow you to continually review the procedures relating to the Crew Planning Manuals

- Understanding of irregular operations and crew expectations in such events
- Experience of working with policy and or legislative agreements
- A creative problem solver, able to consider alternatives and arrive at a logical decision
- Understanding of working in a matrix organisation taking account of cultural differences and working practices
- Comfortable with ambiguity and working under pressure in a reactive environment
- Great communication skills with the ability to liaise and influence effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
- Proven analytical ability with good financial and cost awareness
