You will be reporting to the local Environment and Waste Manager and based on a sound understanding of the local HSE performance and risk profile, you will support implementation of RRSL’s environmental management arrangements to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, provide SME advice, promote and support the corporate Environment strategy working in collaboration with stakeholders to implement Environment & Waste Management standards. What you will be doing: With this exciting opportunity your main responsibilities will include: You will be part of the Environment and Waste Management team for Rolls-Royce Submarines. You will provide advice and support to help reduce RRSL’s Environment and Waste impact across operations and projects and contribute to the drive to reduce environment and climate change impacts. You will improve and implement RRSL’s environmental management system You will support and coordinate improvements to environmental maturity and waste activities by identifying, prioritising and implementing changes. You will assist the business to meet the requirements of Environmental Permits and other regulatory requirements. You will work with the regulatory authorities including the ONR and Environment Agency. Driving HSE & waste improvements as agreed with the regulatory body. To be successful in this role you will need to meet the following criteria: Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a science or engineering field. Membership of appropriate Professional Body, IEMA/SRP. Working understanding/experience of sustainability/sustainable development. Experience of ISO14001 Environmental Management system Experience with relevant Regulatory Guidance, Industry Codes of Practice & Good Practice Guides Familiarisation with the latest UK Standards, Codes of Practice and Guidance Documents for Waste and Environment Management Experience in managing Radiological / Hazardous waste activities.
