A rare opportunity has come available for a senior leader to join Air New Zealand as Head of Pilot Enablement. Reporting to the GM Pilots and with 5 direct reports, this is a strategic leadership role across Pilot industrial relations/unions/bargaining, communication and engagement strategies, and improvements to the engagement of Pilots at Air New Zealand.
This is a challenging, varied and rewarding role, with responsibilities including:
- Leadership of the Pilot Enablement team, ensuring that effective administration and coordination support is provided to Pilots and the Pilot Management team.
- The design and delivery of an overall Pilot IR/ER and bargaining strategy, in collaboration with Workplace Relations, GM Pilots, Senior Fleet Managers, and Senior Manager People.
- The design and delivery of an overall Pilot engagement and communications strategy, resulting in a highly engaged workforce.
- Managing and driving the resolution of all ER/IR issues in conjunction with the Senior Workplace Relations Manager and Senior Manager People, ensuring compliance with all contractual, regulatory, and legislative requirements.
- Co-ownership of the Pilot union relationships in conjunction with the Pilot Leadership Team, including co-ordinating and facilitating union working groups.
- Providing support to Pilot Leadership on contract negotiations.
- Driving continuous improvement to reduce cost, complexity, silos, and duplication.
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in leading strategic and commercial initiatives and managing a complex business as part of a senior management team. You will have proven ability to lead change and manage industrial relations in collaboration with other senior leaders, with experience in ER/IR and collective bargaining. You will be skilled in relationship management, able to build trust easily and resolve conflict when required. A legal background, either at a law firm or in-house, would be extremely beneficial. In addition to this, you enjoy leading others, with a track record of building strong, integrated, engaged and cohesive teams.
