Team Overview
The Analytics and Innovation (Ai) team at United Airlines works to innovate, transform, and solve complex business problems resulting in significant and measurable enterprise impact through the application of deep cross-functional business expertise and advanced analytics. We work with business and technology partners across the enterprise (e.g. Airport Operations, Contact Centers, Network Planning, Revenue Management, Digital Products, Human Resources, etc.) to influence strategic decisions, enterprise strategy, business process, and to help connect the dots across the enterprise. Role Overview
The team is currently looking for an advanced analytics leader with deep skills in developing & depoloying ML/predictive models and in analytical problem-solving. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders in US as well as training and retaining key talent within the offshore team are keys to success in this role. Additionally, this role will require a strong client focus, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholder.
- Acting as a team leader planning, delivering, providing analytical and/or mathematical modeling or streamlined processes for complex business problems and providing project updates to key clients / partners / stakeholders.
- Scope, size and plan Advanced Analytics project roadmaps with clear milestones, metrics and identify potential derailment factors. Drive end-to-end execution from incubation to production
- Hiring & developing top talent in Advanced analytics and building the pace & culture of innovation in the group.
- Coaching and mentoring team members on their development as well as for successful delivery of projects; assuring a high level of staff technical skills and knowledge.
- Developing and delivering stories and presentations for United leadership and external stakeholders
- Ensure alignment, prioritization and regular feedback to internal teams and leadership on assigned projects – help business owners make faster, smarter decisions.
- Encourage development and sharing of internal best practices and foster collaboration with internal and external teams.
This position is offered on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded.
Qualifications
Required
- Master's degree or 6 years of relevant work experience
- Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics
- Full time 6-9 years’ experience in advanced analytics/data science
- Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship
- Ability to deliver high quality machine learning and advanced analytics solutions in a matrix organization, thinking out of the box and solving hard problems while navigating through ambiguity.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing ML models at scale; solving identified business problems, and achieving optimization in the product development and ML project lifecycle.
- Highly proficient in Python and SQL; with the ability to write high-performance, industry-grade, scalable code
- Experience with Machine Learning algorithms (including but not limited to: Regression, RF, SVM, GBM, CatBoost), Clustering techniques (K-means, DBSCAN), NLP techniques (Word2Vec, Topic Modelling)
- Thought leadership when evaluating business problems and architecting a cohesive solution
- Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable interacting with technical and non-technical audiences including business and tech leadership.
- Strong analytical abilities, ability to define relevant measurements / metrics for a given problem.
Preferred
- Master’s Degree
- Advanced degree in Data Science
- Previous airline business experience and/or knowledge of airline industry data sources.
- Prior experience leading and developing high-performing teams with an emphasis on execution and through-put
- Experience working with models in production environments.
- Experience with experimentation such as A/B testing.
- In depth understanding of AWS Services including Sagemaker, Redshift, Athena, S3 & AWS data lake.
