The Avionics and Electrical systems Engineer is responsible for developing repairs and alterations, defining maintenance specifications, evaluating new avionics technologies, and the technical airworthiness management of aircraft avionics, electrical systems, and related components on the Airbus and Embraer aircraft.

 

The Engineer will support flight and technical operations, including Line and Heavy Maintenance, as necessary to achieve safety, reliability, and operational goals. The successful candidate will have excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills and a solid understanding of best practices to assist in building the right processes, as well as managing the day-to-day responsibilities and functions of the engineering team. 

We are looking for a Avionics & Electrical Systems Engineer that lives within 50 miles of one of our Breeze Bases or is willing to relocate to one of our Breeze Bases:

Here’s what you’ll do

  • Review and take action in response to Airworthiness Directives (AD) to ensure compliance with FAA, ANAC, and other regulatory agency requirements and guidance
  • Review and disposition avionics/electrical systems Service Bulletins, Service Letters, modifications, and other engineering technical documents for applicability, systems safety and reliability, and economical benefits
  • Serve as the focal point for business partners on resolving technical issues relating to avionics and aircraft electrical systems
  • Coordinate and work with the flight and operations control departments in defining and managing the aircraft voice and datalink applications and Airline Operational Communications software
  • Develop avionics installations and upgrades as required to meet technical airworthiness and operational requirements
  • Evaluate new avionics technologies potential value and contribution to the airline operational and business objectives
  • Develop technical data required for modifications, repairs, and troubleshooting of aircraft avionics and electrical systems and related components
  • Obtain regulatory approval for modifications and repairs performed on  aircraft avionics, systems, and components
  • Develop customized procedures and special criteria for repairs, modifications, inspections, and other maintenance actions which are not addressed in existing manuals
  • Prepare engineering documents such as Engineering Orders (EO) to provide technical dispositions for repairs, modifications, inspections, or other maintenance actions on aircraft avionics/electrical systems and components, which provide benefits in accordance with Breeze objectives
  • Establish build specifications for aircraft avionics, systems, and components
  • Provide on-site technical support at MRO locations during modification and outstations for AOG situations to return aircraft back into service
  • Achieve performance measures and adhere to established standards in conjunction with Breeze Aviation Group Values of Safety, Kindness, Integrity, Ingenuity, and Excellence

Here’s what you need to be successful

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in Engineering with Avionics/Electrical Systems concentration or equivalent working experience 
  • 7+ years of engineering experience relating to Aircraft Avionics and Electrical systems modification, troubleshooting, and repair
  • Knowledgeable in the avionics systems architecture and software requirements for Flight Management Systems and aeronautical data link communications systems and protocol
  • Experience with ARINC-429, -717 data bus and working knowledge of IP security
  • 5+ years of experienced required in technical report writing skills to prepare test plans, test results, electrical load analysis, and regulatory compliance reports
  • Working knowledge of 14 CFR Part 21, 25, 91, and 121 regulatory requirements
  • 2+ years of experience working in a Part 121 environment
  • Knowledge of Embraer and Airbus aircraft avionics and systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • FAA DER in Electrical systems
  • Knowledge in Satellite and communications technologies
  • Valid Airframe and/or Powerplant License
  • AutoCAD drawing systems experience
  • Embraer Systems training
  • Airbus Systems training

Skills/Abilities

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Must possess proven problem-solving and project management skills
  • Ability to develop, research, and interpret engineering data
  • Ability to read and understand aircraft wiring diagrams, maintenance manuals, and drawings
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to communicate to leadership
  • Must be able to handle high-stress situations
  • Able to manage and coordinate several tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work with individuals and teams at all levels in the organization
  • Must be flexible to work weekends and/or holidays
  • Able and willing to travel
