Crane Aerospace & Electronics is seeking a dynamic Systems Engineer in Burbank, CA to join our high performing Landing Solutions Engineering Team

Job Summary:

This is a Senior Systems Engineer position that will perform engineering duties in researching, planning, designing, and developing products for use in the Aerospace marketplace. The Senior Systems Engineer works within a collaborative Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment managing requirements, defining architectures, performing integration testing and analysis.  Crane Landing Systems has been the brake control system industry leader since introducing the first antiskid brake control system in 1947.  

This position is eligible for our Crane Flex Hybrid schedule which allows for the option of up to 2 days/week of work-from-home. Some conditions apply which will be discussed during the interview process. Full policy to be provided after hire.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate effectively with technical staff and cross functional groups to develop or test safety critical embedded software and systems.
  • Perform analysis of requirements, design and code to assure compliance to standards and guidelines.
  • Prepare technical documentation necessary to satisfy customer and program requirements.
  • Contribute to all Systems Engineering aspects (architecture and components) from initial product research, architecture definition, requirements definition, systems verification, management and flow down to functional engineering groups.
  • Support or lead the planning, modeling, simulation, specifications and integration of components that reside in a system comprised of electronic hardware, microcontrollers, embedded software or sensors.
  • Act as a focal for hardware and software, mechanical systems, qualification, safety and reliability.
  • Maintain hardware and software configurations during development, integration, flight test and certification.
  • Help define the system architecture definition for landing systems with focus on brake control and monitoring systems in a structured environment to meet customer needs. 
  • Participate in the certification compliance activities of essential and critical level control systems for aircraft applications.
  • Execute projects in accordance with schedules and budgets.
  • Coordinate activities with others assigned within the Integrated Product Team.

 

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Experience: 8+ years of relevant work experience required.
  • Knowledge: Understand Systems Engineering principles, including interpreting and writing requirements, system architectures and designs.
    • Experience of system development following industry recognized processes (e.g. ARP4754)
    • Knowledge of requirements management, validation and verification.
  • Skills/Abilities: Proficient with MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • Working knowledge of requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS)
    • Must demonstrate proficiency with verbal and written English for technical reports, presentations, analyses, or other communications at the appropriate level.             
  • Education/Certification : Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent) from a four-year college or university.
  • Eligibility Requirement: This position requires access to controlled data or information and therefore only US persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). 

 

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Familiarity with modeling and simulation (ie. Simulink, SysML) a plus 
  • Experience leading system development activities following industry recognized processes (e.g. ARP4754A).
  • Ability to interact with customers, provide superior technical, cost effective and schedule efficient solutions to complex engineering issues.
  • Ability to lead systems team or cross functional engineering team on complex development programs.
  • Ability to create and present systems material at Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews.
  • Understanding and practical experience of DO-178C and DO-160.  
  • Aerospace industry development experience.
  • Advanced degree in Systems Engineering, Modeling/Simulation, Controls, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

Salary range: $146,931 to $174,241. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications.
