Software Engineer I / Software Engineer II – NO CLEARANCE NEEDED TO APPLY
Your software development talents will contribute to Ball Aerospace’s Ground Command, Control, and Communications Program (GC3). GC3 uses Ball’s event driven architecture to provide paradigm shifting new technologies to the United States Space Force in defense of our Nations space assets. Our software Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps) pipeline adheres to the SAFe Agile Framework providing rapid delivery to our customer in C/C++, Java, Python, and NodeJS languages.

What You’ll Do
- Join a diverse team of skilled engineers conducting leading edge development for the US Air Force.
- Work in a team-oriented environment to use modern and emerging technologies to optimize the next generation of Air Force web-based user interfaces (UI), data processing and event driven applications in a cloud computing environment for Windows and Linux.
- Work with a fast-paced software team to provide our customer with a total software solution.
- Design and develop services and microservices in at least two of the following languages: Java, Python, C++ or JavaScript
- Using a DevSecvOps software development pipeline, develop, test, deploy and maintain and/or improve the performance of existing or new software services. Services will run in an Event Driven Architecture (EDA) in the Cloud
- Document software interfaces and dependencies for Systems Engineering and other microservice developers.
- Interface with other teams to coordinate needs and interfaces.
- Work with customers to establish needs.
- Assist customers with integration and troubleshooting.
- Work with operational personnel to insure they have the documentation and tools required to maintain the operational system.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, the Strategic Capabilities Units, and the company. Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
What You’ll Need
- Engineer I - BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 2 or more years related experience.
- Engineer II - BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 5 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Proficiency with one or more software programming languages, such as: C++, Python, Java, JavaScript, Scala, etc.
- Proficiency with common software development tasks, such as: coding, unit testing, debugging, configuration management, etc. Experience with agile software development methodologies, e.g. Scrum, Kanban, SAFE, etc.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, OpenStack, etc.
- Experience with application platform software such as Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Cloud Foundry, etc. preferred.
- Experience with microservices and distributed systems preferred.
- Experience with messaging, such as RabbitMQ, ZeroMQ, SQS, Apache ActiveMQ, Apache Kaka, etc. preferred.
- Experience with web application frameworks, such as Django, Flask, AngularJS, Node.js, etc. preferred.
- Experience with databases and data storage technologies including Relational databases, NoSQL databases, columnar databases, key/value stores, etc. preferred.
- Proven ability in writing test scripts, test driven development, in an agile software development environment, where building in automated test procedures in addition to functional code are paramount to continuous integration and continuous delivery of software preferred.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working
on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Compensation & Benefits
- HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR ENGINEER I: $88,500 - $109,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
- HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR ENGINEER II: $108,000 - $133,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
