Job Description:
This position's primary role is to install, operate and maintain network devices and to mitigate network outages and performance issues. Performs as the first line of defense to take appropriate action toward resolving network and system problems as they appear. Detects, analyzes, and resolves network LAN/WAN and transmission system problems while minimizing impact on customer service. Differentiates between primary and secondary network failures. Based on the severity or type of event, determines what additional resources are required. Issues service interruption reports to requisite customer agencies. Responsible for remotely supporting installation of various IT hardware equipment and bringing systems 'on-line'.
Job Duties:
- Configure, install and TSHOOT various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, wireless, voice, DNS, DCHP, NAC)
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades
- Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure

- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
- Responsible incident response, troubleshooting, and resolution per policies and procedures
- Implement technical solutions to mitigate outages or performance issues
- Position will require rotational after hours on-call
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or other related disciplines
- 3.0 GPA or greater
Preferred Qualifications:
- Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
- CCNA, CCNP or higher
- Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS, STP)
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
- Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing
- Ability to communicate technical terms / concepts to non-technical audiences and a highly motivated, process-oriented person that has a positive attitude
