Quality Assurance / Compliance Manager
Based: Royal Air Force Brize Norton
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Quality Assurance / Compliance Manager to join our Thales Voyager Academy. This team provides training to RAF Military and Air Tanker civilian pilots; cabin crew, engineers, ground operations and support staff.
What the role has to offer:
This is an integral role responsible for conducting internal and supplier audits; supporting external and customer audits; assisting management with root cause analysis; corrective and preventative actions and providing quality assurance and continual improvement advice to the Voyager Academy senior management team.
Key responsibilities
Reporting to the Quality Manager - Training Solutions, on a day-to-day basis, you’ll be involved in:
Planning and conducting internal and supplier audits in line with Voyager Academy Master Audit Schedule as ratified by Accountable Manager to meet regulated requirements of UK CAA Part-ORA and ISO9001.
Supporting external audits by Customer and National Authority.
Reviewing and amending where necessary Voyager Academy Compliance Management Manual, and Local Procedures and Practices Manual Quality Assurance processes and procedures for CAA alignment.
Maintaining oversight of internal Departmental Compliance Monitoring process.
Carrying out and review Risk Assessments to mitigate hazards.
Attending Safety Review Board bi-annually.
Providing advice and guidance to Academy staff on QA and CM issues.
Attending and independently reviewing Academy Risks and Opportunities.
About you
Ideally, you’ll:
Essential criteria
Be suitably qualified to be acceptable to the National Authority to hold the UK CAA nominated person roles of ATO Compliance Manager (CM) and FSTD Compliance Monitoring Manager (CMM).
Have held OR be able to attain SC Clearance Level
Have a thorough understanding of UK CAA regulations applicable to Approved Training Organisations and Flight Simulator Training Devices (UK Part-ORA).
Have proven auditing and occurrence investigation skills.
Have a thorough understanding of BS EN ISO9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
Be adept in all forms of communication and be comfortable with managing difficult conversations in a supportive and non-escalatory manner.
Desirable criteria
Have an understanding of military Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) as detailed in Joint Service Publication JSP 822.
Have an understanding of theoretical types of Root Cause Analysis such as 8D or UK CAA CAP 1760.
Have an understanding of UK Part-66; Part-145 and Part-147 regulatory requirements for engineering training.
