Senior Director - Deputy
Deputy, Tactical Solutions will serve as Deputy to the Vice President of Tactical Solutions’ Strategic Business Unit (SBU) and provide crucial leadership for a diverse and growing business. In partnership with the Vice President, this role will develop and execute on business strategy, financial performance and oversee all aspects of business lifecycle from new business to program execution. Lead the TS Operations group in driving capital investment planning and optimizing processes and relationships with SCUs.
What You’ll Do
- Partner with VP and TS leaders to build collaborative, inclusive leadership team committed to TS and Ball Aerospace goals.
- Trusted advisor to the VP of TS on all aspects of running and growing the business to meet EVA objectives.
- Responsible for optimizing execution of the Tactical Solutions (TS) business to include the portfolio of programs and TS operations in order to meet financial commitments of the business. Collaborate to create strategy that delivering profitable growth, and efficient operations throughout the SBU.
- Participate in the development of strategic planning, analysis, and decision making for expansion and growth of TS and Ball Aerospace. Recommend objectives and long-range plans to achieve growth and financial profitability of the overall company.
- Ensure alignment on TS strategic priorities and execution on strategic actions.
- Drive consistent program execution and operational practices, processes and reporting across mission areas. Create portfolio level review structure for TS.
- Work collaboratively with the Ball Aerospace Strategic Business Units (SBUs) and Strategic Capability Units (SCUs) to gain synergy across initiatives in alignment with the Strategic Plan.
- Lead return to green portfolio of programs, set criteria for RTG programs, create review process, and ensure progress against RTG plans.
- Serve as the primary delegate to the Vice President with acknowledged authority to act on behalf of the Vice President.
- Provide leadership by exhibiting behaviors aligned with the tenants of Ball Aerospace’s Inspire, Connect and Achieve (ICA) leadership model. The behaviors should include providing a unifying vision, understanding the diverse needs of others to meet business challenges, and breaking down barriers.
- Serve as a key member of the TS Leadership Team; ability to demonstrate a First Team mindset – prioritizing support and holding fellow leaders accountable as top priority.
- Work with Vice President to establish and maintain clear roles, responsibilities and expectations between the TS programs, TS Operations and the supporting SCU functional organizations.
- Partner with Tactical Solutions customers and stakeholders to achieve mission priorities and define next-generation architectures.
- Assist with identifying professional development of the Tactical Solutions staff and provide appropriate growth opportunities and mentoring.
- Ensure that all business is conducted using the highest ethical standards and in compliance with all applicable laws, statutes, regulations, company directives; live Ball’s core values of uncompromising integrity, being close to its customers, behaving like owners, focusing on attention to detail, and being innovative.
- Perform such individual assignments as directed; and maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.

- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

What You’ll Need
- BS/BA in a related field plus 15 years or more related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Degree in Business, Engineering, or related technical or management degree preferred.
- Proven leader with ability to lead a complex organization through growth and change and position the organization for future success.
- A solid understanding of Tactical Solutions mission and operations with relevant industry and government relationships.
- Leadership experience managing senior staff.
- Excellent communication skills to support interfaces with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to effectively interact with customers and governmental figures at an executive level.
On-Site Work Environment: Thisposition requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site four or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

A DoD Interim Secret clearance will be required to start work and required to be maintained to continue work. Higher level clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Compensation & Benefits
- HIRING SALARY RANGE: $196,500 - $271,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
- Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
- Subject to business and individual performance, and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in a long-term incentive compensation plan.
