The Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a highly skilled and dynamic communications professional to develop and execute communications strategies on key technological capabilities for aeronautics efforts. This position is located in
Redondo Beach, California.
Reporting to the Manager of Communications for the Air Dominance, and Research & Advanced Design divisions, the ideal Public Relations Representative is a high-energy candidate who can serve as a trusted advisor and thrive in fast-paced environments. The right applicant will have experience in managing communications plan and supporting the execution of strategic communications efforts supporting them. The Public Relations Representative should be able to meet commitments and work effectively given tight turnaround times, multiple tasks and customers, shifting priorities, and limited resources.
Areas of focus include contributing to internal and external communications initiatives, supporting messaging, and collateral creation. Additional responsibilities will include:
- Develop key messages and devise communications tactics to deliver them to key audiences
- Collaborate with program and capability leaders, along with communicators in a matrixed approach
- Support key enterprise and sector communications initiatives as assigned
Essential Functions: Conduct public relations activities to improve and support company objectives with the media, public, industry, stakeholders, and employees. This includes the ability to:
- Understand the aeronautics environment and how it is shaping future defense requirements; develop and refine messages for key capability discriminators to tell and support communications objectives
- Write and edit internal and external communications, including press releases, announcements, strategic content, speeches, scripts, articles, and business presentations
- Coordinate with communications counterparts on the development of content supporting assigned initiatives
- Attend in-person meetings as assigned
Basic Qualifications for Public Relations Representative:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, communications, or a business discipline with a minimum of 3 years of experience in communications, journalism, public relations, or related experience OR Master's degree and a minimum of 1 year of experience in communications, journalism, public relations, or related experience
- Must be able to work on-site at the Redondo Beach location and have own transportation to support communications activities at various sites in Southern California
- Occasional travel beyond the listed areas may be required (up to 10%)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in or with the military, defense, and aviation industry and/or government
- Current DoD Secret security clearance
- Experience working in a large and geographically dispersed and matrixed organization
- Confident communicator with attention to detail - Superior organization, project management, and time management skills
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills
- Strong decision-making ability and ability to work autonomously
- Applies best practices and lessons learned for continuous improvement
- Experience with Public Relations analytic tools
Salary Range: $70,200 - $105,200
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
