As a leader in the aerospace industry, we have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Human Resources Intern (12-month industrial placement starting summer 2024)

The successful candidate can expect to:

  • Work as an effective member of a team, in order to fulfil the necessary requirements of the job and able to create and maintain effective working relationships with other departments.
  • Able to plan an efficient and appropriate course of action. Prioritise and plan activities taking into account all the relevant issues/factors. Set up and monitor timescales and plans.
  • Pay attention to the finer details of own work. Able to ensure the accuracy of work.
  • Communicate effectively with others (individuals/groups), both verbally and in writing. Able to effectively use a variety of communication methods (e.g. telephone, e-mail).
  • Able to work quickly and accurately while under pressure to meet deadlines. Support the achievement of departmental KPI’s.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate can expect to be exposed to a wide range of HR activities providing them with insightful and invaluable HR experience in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment.

  • Involvement in HR projects across a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Support the HR Business Partners with HR related activities such as Recruitment & Selection, Talent Development, Talent Management & other HR related administrative duties.
  • Maintain and update departmental databases/systems/files where appropriate.
  • Coordinate the induction and onboarding processes with support from the HR Business Partners.
  • Ensure all records within the department are dealt with in accordance with Collins Aerospace policies and data protection.
  • Lead and participate in project work as required.
  • Respond appropriately to employee queries and provide assistance/guidance to managers, when requested.
  • Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of systems and procedures.

What you need to succeed?

Essential Criteria:

  • Currently studying towards a bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business or other relevant discipline.
  • As part of their degree have the option to peruse an industrial placement for 12 months (starting summer 2024).
  • Have excellent IT skills and be able to competently demonstrate IT abilities with a range of IT packages (e.g. Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint).

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of using a Human Resources Information System, such as TMS, Workday.
  • Hold a computer qualification (e.g. CLAIT, ECDL, RSA Stage 11 or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a complex, fast paced and dynamic environment.
