Pilot Training Planner

Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Crew Planning, the Pilot Training Planner is responsible for all monthly training planning/recovery for all Pilots. They will work alongside the Crew Planners and Flight Ops department with the use of the Navblue PBS system for pilot training bidding, and the Navblue Ops & Crew (N-OC) system for plotting and tracking pilot training.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work on daily, weekly. monthly recovery for all Pilot Training
  • Liaise with various internal departments and with external vendors for training they provide to Porter Airlines’ pilots for quick turnaround times to maintain an efficient training footprint when recovery is needed
  • Monitor and maintain all Upgrade and Initial Line Indoctrination pilot training using crew management software (N-OC)
  • Plan & plot all initial, upgrade & recurrent Line Checks
  • Track completion of training and ensure the Supervisor, Pilot Training Planner is notified if a candidate fails or does not complete training, and coordinate with various individuals to set up remedial or additional training, as required
  • Monitor currency of pilots, 90 day recency included, in consultation with Flight Operations internal regulations, as well as standard Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs)
  • Input scheduling and pay changes in crew scheduling software
  • Plan and adjust schedules for Training Captains and Approved Check Pilots
  • Occasional availability outside of regular office hours when necessary
  • Actively participates in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Manager, Crew Planning

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Crew Scheduler/Planner (or other relevant planning or operations experience)
  • Knowledge of crew management and preferential bidding software (preferred, but not required)
  • Knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations related to flight crew
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite/Shared Drives/Gmail
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective time management
  • Superior interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Excellent decision-making ability
  • Self-starter with high motivation
  • Impartiality, integrity, tenacity, diplomacy and self-reliance are key attributes
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a cohesive unit
  • Positive customer-focused attitude, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong technology background preferred
